Got a call from someone claiming to be doing a "survey" from the US, supposedly linked to a charity named the 'Healthcare Foundation' and the Commonwealth Foundation. They said they wanted to ask about my views on the NHS and intended to record the call, assuring me they wouldn't collect any personal info. I asked why they were ringing a 'randomly chosen' number like mine, and she kept saying it was just research into satisfaction with our healthcare. Seemed odd to me. She also wanted me to agree to them sharing the recording with some organisation called SSRS or maybe SRS - connection was sketchy - which I refused. She was quite polite but I’m definitely blocking that number. When I pressed for more details, they said the survey covered nine different countries. Not really interested, thanks.

Someone phoned saying our firm was chosen for a "worldwide survey" (oh joy, how lucky!). Realised it was one of those annoying calls so I told them our policy is not to do phone surveys and ended the call. Then, less than ten minutes later, got another call from the same number but a different person, repeating the same spiel. Ended it straight away. I can’t stand how they make it sound like we should feel honoured to answer their questions, which obviously end up being handed over to marketing firms or used for advertising.

What’s weird is, I’ve been ex-directory for yonks and haven’t had any scam calls for at least 8 years. So it got me thinking, what’s changed? Sure, it could just be a random dial. But if they got my number from somewhere else (maybe through hacking), the only new company I’ve dealt with lately is a nationwide car buying firm that advertises a lot. Out of the blue, I received a call claiming to be a 'lifestyle survey'. It was clearly just a wage slave attempting to boost their figures for live calls. With landlines dwindling in number, when an autodialer connects, they assume they’ve reached an unsuspecting elderly person, raised to be polite and easily swayed. When she attempted to explain her reason for ringing, I simply said, 'You're out to make a profit.' She answered with a feeble 'No.' It was evident she didn't grasp my point - she was there to probe complete strangers. I truly hope she finds a more fulfilling pursuit that adds real value to her life.

They've called me a couple times yesterday and again today. I forgot to answer, just let it ring out. By now, you'd think they'd realise I’m not going to answer and stop bothering me.

Got a call from this number a little while back. The guy said he was doing some sort of Market Research for Kantar. I got asked about a Tobacco smoking survey (which others have mentioned too), then he wanted to know where I lived - I said South East, and my birthday - I gave him wrong info. I’ve blocked the number now, just hoping I don’t end up regretting that I actually answered.
