I received a rather persistent call from someone who had a distinctly Asian accent, who kept referring to me as "Ma'am". They mentioned there was going to be a survey in Spring/Summer of 2021 and asked for the name of a manager who might be interested in participating. I work on the switchboard at a large American multinational, so I've had my fair share of these types of calls. It seems they’re just fishing for a name to use down the line for sales calls, to be honest. When I informed him about our ‘no name’ policy and that we don’t engage in surveys, he began to make exasperated noises! I swiftly ended the call. Considering the variety of calls from this number over a prolonged period, I’d lean towards calling this one a ‘nuisance caller’ rather than an outright scam.

This guy with a strong Asian accent said he was from Eon energy and told me if I didn’t renew my contract before Brexit, my bills would skyrocket! I played along and said “Yeah, let’s renew it now” and even pretended to give my bank details! 😡 Needless to say, I didn’t do any of that and just ended the call straight away! Funny thing is, I’m not even a customer of Eon!!!
