I got a call from someone who said his name was Michael. He told me, as I’m over 50, he could lower the cost of my appliances cover and that he’d send me all the info through the post. He even used both my full name and my address when talking. When I asked how he’d got my information, he said he was calling from my home insurance company and mentioned working for a firm I hadn’t heard of, though I didn’t catch exactly what it was called. Feels like he might have been gearing up to try and get my bank details.

After the very first time I got this weird silence, I just went ahead and blocked the number so they can't bother me again.

When he asked for my bank details for the direct debit, I told him no way I’m giving that info to a random cold caller and ended the call.
