I received a phone call the other day from someone claiming to represent a government claims advisory service. They asked for my name and informed me that I was to receive a cheque for £6000. Apparently, this was facilitated by the government. The caller insisted I was with a prominent bank and mentioned that the cheque would arrive on Monday. Quite puzzled, I informed him that I actually don't possess a bank account. He rather condescendingly replied that I must have one. I reiterated my situation, as I am currently bankrupt, and to my surprise, he abruptly ended the call. So it seems that cheque is a no-go, then!
