10 yearsI just got a dodgy call from a man with an African accent claiming my Microsoft stuff was infected with malware, then he started telling me to mess about with my PC. I quickly hung up. The number was 0203152665. Heard that a couple of my workmates had the same thing happen to them yesterday too.Microsoft10 yearsI’ve just had a run-in with a rather persistent phone number! They rang me up and followed a script identical to what others have reported. Honestly, it took me a mere fifteen seconds to realise it was a con. I feigned confusion about their blabber - which, let's face it, was entirely justified since their claims about my computer were utterly ludicrous. Then, the woman switched me over to her 'supervisor', who became quite flustered when I pointed out his nonsense. Well, I promptly ended the call. Remember, Microsoft NEVER reaches out to you; it’s always the other way around. So, if someone rings you up claiming to be from Microsoft, don’t hesitate to hang up!Microsoft NEVERMicrosoft10 yearsGot a call from an Asian lady early morning on this number. She was yabbering about Windows Tech Centre in broken English. I told her she’d just woken me up and to stop calling me for good. Total 'Windows' SCAM if you ask me!Windows Tech Centre10 yearsI was jolted from my slumber by a call from this number, and it turned out to be an Asian lady rambling on about some Windows Tech Centre in a rather broken English. I promptly let her know that she had disturbed my rest and requested that she refrain from calling me in the future. Clearly, it was just another one of those dodgy 'Windows' scams!10 yearsA lady speaking with an Asian accent called to say there was some issue with my computer. I told her everything was fine and then ended the call.10 yearsI received a similar call at my mum’s place. At 96 years old, she hasn’t had a computer linked there for over a decade and a half! I set the chap straight when he called. Then today, I had another one, this time from a lady with an accent. I quizzed her on which version of Windows was supposedly on my non-existent computer. Her speech quickened to such a pace that she soon became utterly tongue-tied and ended up hanging up on me. Oh, what a joy!10 yearsTotally agree, this is one of those Windows scams. I told them I didn't own a PC, then the lady with a strong Asian accent and pretty bad English asked if maybe someone else in the house had one registered here. I just played dumb and dragged it out, but either she caught on or just gave up on me and hung up. Worked out great, they haven't bothered calling again. You'd think someone would be able to shut these scams down fast. Dunno why they let it keep going.10 yearsAs mentioned previously, I inquired about the location of his office, and he told me it was in Los Angeles, California. Curious about the time in L.A., I asked him, but he abruptly ended the call. Considering the time difference, it would have been only 7:33 in the morning! Those early birds, I suppose!Los AngelesCaliforniaL. A.10 yearsThey rang me too. Just like everyone's saying, it's the exact same story. I’ve got an elderly relative who almost gave them his bank details, so honestly, it feels really risky to me.10 yearsGot a call from a bloke saying he was from Microsoft, telling me there was a virus on my PC. The guy had an Asian accent and struggled with his English quite a bit. You could hear loads of noise in the background, like a busy call centre or something. He said he was calling from 58 Mutton Lane in Potters Bar.MicrosoftMutton LanePotters Bar10 yearsGot a missed call from this number and rang back straight away. Should have looked it up here beforehand. Didn’t get an answer but now I’m scared ringing them might end up super expensive. Does anyone know for sure?10 yearsI’m also situated in Edinburgh, so it seems like they’re making the rounds, eh? She rang me again at 3 this afternoon, just like she did the day prior. So, I decided to blow a whistle down the line, and she promptly hung up. To my surprise, she dialled back just 30 seconds later, and I couldn’t resist giving her a little serenade. Her response? “Go f*** yourself, you numpty!” - and then she disconnected. Honestly, I thought my vocal talents weren't half bad! 😉Edinburgh10 yearsGot a call from someone with an Indian accent saying my Windows PC was full of viruses. I said I actually use a laptop with Ubuntu Linux, not Windows. He said he wasn’t aware of that system but kept on going about my imaginary Windows issues. Then I told him I was looking at his computer and it needed fixing, and maybe I should fly over to India to sort it out for him. He got really mad and just hung up. Honestly, made my day!India10 yearsToday has been a right carry-on, with these so-called professionals ringing us ten times in the span of just one hour! An individual, presumably of Indian descent, insists she's from Microsoft, yet her grasp of English leans more towards the bewildering end of the spectrum. Despite this, she's relentless, redialling the moment you dare to hang up. She openly declared that she won't relent until you comply with her request, which involves logging into your computer to supposedly verify the authenticity of a computer licence she’s conjured up. The moment I decided to blast a whistle down the phone, miraculously, her calls diminished and eventually all but ceased - she was the one hanging up! It's incredible how determined and downright rude some people can be. My heart goes out to those who might fall for such tricks - it’s a complete shambles!Microsoft10 yearsGot another call from a bloke with an asian accent, going on about some MS thing and a computer virus. Didn’t take long to realise it was a scam, so I just hung up when I got fed up of his rubbish. Apparently he wanted me to type in “eventvwr” to check some error stuff or something.10 yearsReceived a call at my workplace in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was yet another bunch of phoney Microsoft con artists.EdinburghScotlandMicrosoft10 yearsReceived a call today from an Asian gentleman claiming to be from 'Windows'. His voice was eerily reminiscent of a recent caller who pretended to be from BT, claiming there were issues with my computer. I thought it was rather amusing, so I put him on speaker and let him hear my baby wailing in the background for a bit. Fingers crossed he takes the hint and thinks twice before calling back!BT10 yearsGot a dodgy call claiming to be from Microsoft Windows, saying my PC was infected with a virus. I found it kinda funny since I use a Mac, but if I’d done what they told me, it probably would have ended up costing me a fortune. When I called them out on it being a scam, the person on the other end got really rude and aggressive.Microsoft10 yearsDidn’t know the number so I ignored it - had a look at the reviews and seems like it’s a scam.10 yearsI've received numerous calls from this particular number, and every time they just hang up! However, on one occasion, I actually had a chat with a man of Asian descent, during which I queried why he presumed I would be foolish enough to grant him access to my computer. He abruptly ended the call but not before ringing me back to hurl a stream of insults, calling me scum, a devil, and a filthy b***h! I've attempted to return the call but it seems impossible to get through. This number really ought to be shut down, as there are plenty of folks out there who might fall prey to their scams and aren't as savvy as I am!10 yearsThis bloke kept talking in what seemed like some Indian language, repeating himself loads and chuckling all the time. Proper annoying and out of order, especially since they were ringing a work line.10 yearsJust like others have mentioned, it was an Asian man from a chaotic call centre claiming to be from Microsoft saying there was an issue. I SAID NO AND ENDED THE CALL. SHE CONTINUED TO RING ME BACK. CLEARLY JUST A SCAM.10 years16/10/21 - My phone showed the caller as ‘international’ so I figured it’d be dodgy, but I was curious who they were pretending to be today, so I picked up. An Asian-sounding woman with loads of background noise claimed she was from Microsoft Windows, so I quickly said, “No thanks, not interested, please leave me alone!” and hung up straight away. Got a few similar ‘international’ calls lately, clearly trying new tricks as I’ve deleted plenty of phishing emails before.10 yearsGood thing I ignored their call earlier. They've just gone straight onto my blocked list.10 yearsReceived a call this afternoon around 2 o'clock from someone purporting to be from Microsoft. At first, I played along. However, things took a turn when they mentioned a peculiar one-off payment of £10 and insisted I log into my bank account, as they only accepted payments through that method-not credit cards or cheques. They even threatened that I’d be locked out of my computer if I didn’t comply! That was my cue to cut the call and shut everything down. Shortly thereafter, they rang me again, inquiring about the 'issues' I was facing. Quite the dodgy business, I must say!Microsoft10 yearsReceived a rather dubious call from an Asian individual purporting to represent Microsoft based out of California. This person was quite clearly not well-versed in tech matters and displayed a rather discourteous demeanour. I’d strongly advise against engaging in any dialogue with such callers. He then urged me to power up my computer, which I had no intention of doing. When I asked for his contact information, he refused to share anything and wouldn’t remove my number from his list either. Seriously hope no one gets tricked by this scam. I honestly don’t understand how people can do crap like this to others. :(Sir10 yearsThey certainly don't give up easily! Even after I made it clear that I was aware it was a bogus number and that I was merely toying with them, they carried on chatting for an additional couple of minutes in a bid to convince me. Quite amusing, really!10 yearsTotal scam, no doubt about it. Just end the call and block their number straight away.10 yearsGot a call on Saturday 24th September 16 at about 3.25pm from this number, some woman said she was calling about my computer. I told her straight up I knew it was a scam and hung up. Honestly, how do these lot manage to live with themselves? They'd do well spending some serious time locked up, maybe then they’d stop pestering people like this.10 yearsJust got a call from these lot. Left it on for like ten minutes, playing along. Then they put me through to some “level 5 engineer”. I told him, look, I gotta stop you, this computer isn’t mine. He asked whose it was, and I said honestly, no clue, I just snuck in the back and nicked it when you rang. He lost it, swearing at me and told me to hang up, then the line went dead. Guess I ended up stealing the computer before him anyway lol. Haha!10 yearsJust got a call like this warning our computer was infected, bloke had a strong asian accent. Claimed to be from Microsoft tech support and told us to log in. Got really rude when we said it sounded like a scam.Microsoft10 yearsKeeps ringing nonstop and never leaves any voicemail. Not sure if it’s connected, but this all began right after some dodgy-sounding Asian person called saying they were from Barclays.Barcisys10 yearsGot loads of calls from this number, some Asian guy saying he’s from Microsoft. He kept going on about my laptop sending error alerts and that it’s gonna freeze soon unless I send it off for repairs straight away. He wouldn’t give me any more details or show any proof it’s legit. Watch out, defo a scam!Microsoft10 yearsSorta like the others said. A woman claiming to be from Windows tech support called. The line was awful and she had an Asian accent. She sounded really rude and her English was pretty poor. I told her I suspected it was a scam and just ended the call.10 yearsjust got a call from this number. i could hardly understand him cause he had a really strong asian accent. he was saying something about my computer having issues but i just told him to buzz off. blocked the number on my home phone now.10 yearsGot a call around 3.30pm from an Asian guy claiming to be from the “windows technical dept”. I asked for his number so I could call back and he gave me some nonsense like “125-73-76-78”. I told him that sounded fake, then he put his boss on. The supervisor asked what I thought the call was about, by that time I’d already looked up this website. I told him that since there’s apparently a problem with my windows, he’d soon be trying to get me to download software so he could hack my PC and pinch private info. He ended the call straight away!Windows Technical Department10 yearsI received a phone call from the same number, with someone claiming to be a technician from Microsoft, insisting that there'd been an issue reported. I responded politely, asking him to guide me through the necessary steps. He directed me to fire up Internet Explorer on my computer. I told him to hold on while I did so and placed the phone down on the table for a moment. Upon my return, I discovered they'd hung up!Microsoft10 yearsI recently received a rather dubious call at about half three in the afternoon from a gentleman with an Asian accent claiming to represent the "Windows Technical Department". I inquired about his contact number for any potential follow-up and he provided me with what I can only describe as a nonsensical series-“125-73-76-78”. Naturally, I expressed my disbelief, which led him to transfer me to his supervisor. The supervisor then questioned me about my understanding of the nature of the call (by that point, I had already done some searching online and stumbled upon this site). I informed him that due to an alleged issue with my Windows system, he was likely to attempt to persuade me into downloading some software, enabling him to gain control over my computer and pilfer my personal information. At this point, he swiftly terminated the call!Windows Technical Department10 yearsI received a call from a woman who identified herself as being from Windows. She informed me that there was a serious issue with my computer and requested that I switch it on. I politely declined, and to my surprise, she responded with, "Fine, you can just go to hell then!" Quite the interaction, I must say!10 yearsthey rang me today but no one was home so they just cut off instead of leaving a voicemail. the number was 0203 152 665. ive heard 0203 numbers are sometimes used by scammers so i’m not bothering to call back. from what ive read earlier this number is linked to a scam pretending to be from computer fraud dept, so i’m marking it here as dodgy.10 yearsJust to confirm - this number, 0203152665, is linked to a scam. Today, someone claimed my computer was infected with malware and insisted I turn it on while speaking to them. I kept them chatting for ages but never agreed to log in. I reckon I added a good 8 minutes to their call before they finally gave up. Almost straight away, another person called and repeated the same demand to log in. After refusing for a bit, they warned me my computer would be completely useless if I didn’t comply! Sadly, I have no idea who they really are. Does anyone else know?10 yearsI recently had an unsettling encounter with a chap claiming to be from Microsoft. He was an Asian gentleman insisting that my laptop was in dire trouble and that he could help. It quickly dawned on me that it was merely a ruse attempting to compromise my computer.
