10 yearsI just got a dodgy call from a man with an African accent claiming my Microsoft stuff was infected with malware, then he started telling me to mess about with my PC. I quickly hung up. The number was 0203152665. Heard that a couple of my workmates had the same thing happen to them yesterday too.Microsoft10 yearsThis number seems really busy. I got a call from them and they used the same script others have mentioned. After about 15 seconds, I could tell it was dodgy. I told them I didn’t understand what they were saying, which was true because my computer definitely wasn’t doing what they claimed. Then a woman handed me over to a supervisor who got pretty annoyed when I told him he was talking nonsense. I just hung up straight away. Microsoft won’t ring you out of the blue - you have to ring them, so if anyone calls pretending to be from Microsoft, just end the call right away.Microsoft NEVERMicrosoft10 yearsGot a call from an Asian lady early morning on this number. She was yabbering about Windows Tech Centre in broken English. I told her she’d just woken me up and to stop calling me for good. Total 'Windows' SCAM if you ask me!Windows Tech Centre10 yearsThis number woke me up with a call from an Asian lady. She was jabbering on about some Windows Tech Centre, speaking in broken English. I told her off, said she’d disturbed my sleep and to not ring me anymore. Pretty clear it’s one of those Windows scams!10 yearsA lady speaking with an Asian accent called to say there was some issue with my computer. I told her everything was fine and then ended the call.10 yearsMy mum’s place got the same call too. She’s 96 and hasn’t had internet there for over 16 years. I told the bloke off straight away when he called. Then today, a woman with an Asian accent rang using the same spiel. I asked her which version of Windows was on my computer. She started talking quicker and quicker until she just hung up on me. Made my day, honestly.10 yearsTotally agree, this is one of those Windows scams. I told them I didn't own a PC, then the lady with a strong Asian accent and pretty bad English asked if maybe someone else in the house had one registered here. I just played dumb and dragged it out, but either she caught on or just gave up on me and hung up. Worked out great, they haven't bothered calling again. You'd think someone would be able to shut these scams down fast. Dunno why they let it keep going.10 yearsHe told me his office was located in Los Angeles, California, when I asked. Then when I asked what time it was there, he just ended the call. Considering the time difference, it must have been around 7.33 in the morning over there! Early birds, huh!Los AngelesCaliforniaL. A.10 yearsThey rang me too. Just like everyone's saying, it's the exact same story. I’ve got an elderly relative who almost gave them his bank details, so honestly, it feels really risky to me.10 yearsGot a call from a bloke saying he was from Microsoft, telling me there was a virus on my PC. The guy had an Asian accent and struggled with his English quite a bit. You could hear loads of noise in the background, like a busy call centre or something. He said he was calling from 58 Mutton Lane in Potters Bar.MicrosoftMutton LanePotters Bar10 yearsGot a missed call from this number and rang back straight away. Should have looked it up here beforehand. Didn’t get an answer but now I’m scared ringing them might end up super expensive. Does anyone know for sure?10 yearsI’m also based in Edinburgh, so it seems they’re definitely going from one place to another! She rang me again at about 3pm today, just like yesterday. This time, I gave her a bit of a hard time on the phone and she just ended the call straight away. Then, no joke, she rang back about half a minute later, so I started belting out a tune. After that, she shouted something rude and slammed the phone down. Honestly, I didn’t think my singing was that terrible! ;-)Edinburgh10 yearsGot a call from someone with an Indian accent saying my Windows PC was full of viruses. I said I actually use a laptop with Ubuntu Linux, not Windows. He said he wasn’t aware of that system but kept on going about my imaginary Windows issues. Then I told him I was looking at his computer and it needed fixing, and maybe I should fly over to India to sort it out for him. He got really mad and just hung up. Honestly, made my day!India10 yearsToday, I've been bombarded with about ten calls in just one hour from what I suspect is a scammer - a lady with an accent that sounds kind of Indian, claiming to be from Microsoft. Her English is pretty hard to understand and she’s super persistent. The moment you hang up, she rings straight back and even admits she won’t stop bothering you until you do what she says. She wants you to log onto your computer so she can ‘check’ the licence she keeps mentioning. Eventually, I got so fed up I started blowing a whistle loudly into the phone, and surprisingly, she was the one who ended up hanging up. Never had a caller so pushy and rude before, honestly it’s scary to think some older or less tech-savvy people might actually fall for this. Totally disgraceful behaviour!Microsoft10 yearsGot another call from a bloke with an asian accent, going on about some MS thing and a computer virus. Then they put me through to some “level 5 engineer”. I told him, look, I gotta stop you, this computer isn’t mine. He asked whose it was, and I said honestly, no clue, I just snuck in the back and nicked it when you rang. He lost it, swearing at me and told me to hang up, then the line went dead. Guess I ended up stealing the computer before him anyway lol. Haha!10 yearsJust got a call like this warning our computer was infected, bloke had a strong asian accent. I asked for his number so I could call back and he gave me some nonsense like “125-73-76-78”. I told him that sounded fake, then he put his boss on. The supervisor asked what I thought the call was about, by that time I’d already looked up this website. Today, someone claimed my computer was infected with malware and insisted I turn it on while speaking to them. I kept them chatting for ages but never agreed to log in. I reckon I added a good 8 minutes to their call before they finally gave up. Almost straight away, another person called and repeated the same demand to log in. After refusing for a bit, they warned me my computer would be completely useless if I didn’t comply! Sadly, I have no idea who they really are.
