Got a missed call from some "Aspire" loans or something, so I called back - big mistake. Told them straight up to stop calling me again.

Got a few messages from "Aspire Money" saying I asked for a loan earlier, so I guess it’s the same lot just ringing from a new number since I blocked the last one.

It’s Aspire Money ringing up about loans all the time, like every single day. When you block one number, they just ring from another that’s pretty close to the first. It’s proper annoying.

Got a call from an Asian guy asking if I got the local paper, then he gave an address that wasn’t mine. I just ended the call.

I missed the call but looks like they were checking if my local paper arrived. Thing is, my paper showed up 4 days late. I called the number back but it said it wasn’t recognised. Very odd.

Heads up: loads of folks get free local newspapers, so scammers just call up any number and ask if you got the ‘LOCAL PAPER’. Most people just say yes, and since it's a friendly woman on the phone, they’ll easily confirm their address too. Just like that, they've got both your phone and home info! Like, if Eastham Recorder’s doing a survey, why would they be ringing someone way over in Luton? Always keep in mind, these tricksters rely on you being trusting and a bit naive.

02031371937 Called me asking about the local paper. I reckon they want you to say "Yes" so they can twist it into a contract over the phone. I just ended the call.

Some bloke called me asking if I’d got my local free paper. I rang up the paper itself to make sure it wasn’t dodgy, and they said it’s a distribution firm they use to confirm their papers actually get delivered.

Got a call from an Asian guy asking if I'd got the local paper and wanting to double check my house number. Watch out, definitely some sort of scam going on.

I got a call from 02031371937, an Asian lady asking if I had received the free local paper and adverts this week. I told her I wasn’t comfortable sharing that info. She didn’t say which paper she meant either. When she pressed me why I refused, I said I don’t entertain random calls from abroad, then I ended the call. I plan to contact my local paper on Tuesday to check if they’ve hired any international companies to gather feedback, but I doubt it. If I find out more, I’ll update this here.

Got a call from 02032875683 saying they were from HMRC. They asked for my name and national insurance number for "security reasons." When I started giving a made-up NI number, the bloke on the other end couldn’t figure out if I was saying a letter or a number. I work for the government and know that letters don’t go in the middle of NI numbers. I called them out on it and they just hung up.

0203 numbers look like London calls but dont be fooled, they arent. You can actually buy any 0203 number for a couple of quid a month. Most of these 0203 calls are scams. Best to just block them from your phone. The TPS cant really help much with these.
