On 27th May I got a robo call claiming to be from the tax office, telling me to ring them back about an urgent issue and warning me about legal trouble if I didn’t reply right away. It was a pretty rubbish attempt at a scam but could easily fool folks who aren’t so careful.

I got a voicemail warning me about supposed legal trouble if I didn't call back right away. It’s clearly meant to scare people into reacting fast. Seems like one of those dodgy scams to me. I've already reported it to the cops through Action Fraud.

Our Panasonic phone showed the call as "international", so we just ignored it. Later, there was a scratched-up voicemail warning us to ring 02031296618 or we'd get legal trouble. We didn’t bother calling back. Instead, we reported the number to 1572 to block them from harassing us. Maybe we're a bit old-fashioned, but we don’t fall for that nonsense.

This number called me twice in just a couple hours, saying it was HMRC. They claimed I owed £3200 from way back, like 1995 to 2000. Then they threatened I'd get arrested in the next hour. I couldn't help but laugh it off. After that, the bloke actually called me a f##ker! Honestly, I’m thinking about booking a quick trip to CUBA before they show up LOL.

Got like 5 texts all in the same day telling me to call back 0203 129 6618, saying it was urgent or time sensitive or something. The voicemail was really scratchy and sounded like it was done on a dodgy phone. Didn’t really trust it, so I just ignored it. Definitely not calling them back. The bloke was proper rude and even threatening me, saying I had a warrant for arrest 'cause of some unpaid tax or fraud from years back, 2002 to 2005 or something. He even gave me an ID number and a supposed warrant number. I was totally freaked out at first, but after finding this site, I’m not so sure now. Should I bother calling the police about it? Cheers for the info, really helped calm me down.

Had a call with some sort of robotic voice saying "You or your lawyer need to ring us back to stop legal trouble," then it weirdly ended with "Thank you, goodbye and take care." How thoughtful of them to wish me well 🙄. Honestly, I can’t imagine anyone falling for this - how convincing does an automated voice sound? Maybe I’m just being hopeful, but if it was truly urgent, wouldn’t an actual person have bothered to leave a message?

got a computerised voice from some bloke saying michael avis or something. been getting calls like this for three days straight. one call from 1471 gave me his number, so i rang back. the guy on the other end was pretty rude, threatening about some hmrc investigation. i played along and answered, but this has to be a scam, proper dodgy stuff.
