Cheers to everyone who's shared their experiences, really helps to watch out for these! Got a voicemail about a supposedly urgent matter where my solicitor needs to get in touch. Oddly enough, they still wished me goodbye and told me to take care at the end. Seems like this one is popping up again.

Got a few messages in like 10 mins, can't say I caught it all but they mentioned something about me or my lawyer needing to ring 020 3129 3857. They also warned not to ignore it or else there’d be legal trouble.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Homecoming, asking me to pay up. Definitely a scam!

No need to yell, mate.

Watch out, these calls are from HMRC scammers attempting to grab your info. Please, don’t ring them back. They're just after your personal details, definitely a scam. Just ignore and don’t give them a ring, it’s not worth it!

On the 3rd of November, 2017, my answerphone picked up a message from a woman’s voice saying there was a legal case against me and that I needed to ring 02031296283 straight away. She claimed to be from HMRC. It was blatantly a scam, so I didn’t bother calling back. The number is almost the same as 02031296617, just the last few digits are different, so I reckon it’s probably the same scammers behind it.

I went ahead and reported these cheeky scammers through the ICO site. Honestly, I think everyone should take a minute to do the same.

I've received a couple of rather unsettling calls, both warning me that legal proceedings would ensue if I didn’t pick up. Quite alarming!

Upon returning from my trip, I was greeted with a pair of unsettling messages. It was rather disconcerting, to say the least. However, it's a relief to discover that they were nothing more than a scam, thanks to the helpful insights from this site. Much appreciated!

This number has called me three times now, claiming to be from HMRC. When I tried to call back and asked who I was speaking to, they just hung up. The automated message ended with a creepy "goodbye and take care" line. The first message really scared me because it threatened legal action and said I needed a solicitor. I've since reported the number to ActionFraud and the police.

If you've had the misfortune of receiving scam calls from this number, I strongly urge you to report it to Action Fraud at actionfraud.police.uk. According to the latest issue of 'WHICH' magazine, they advise that 'HMRC would never call you out of the blue asking for payments.' Hopefully, this information proves useful. Cheers, Martin S.

Received calls from this number on a bank holiday, and they rang me thrice in a single day! Is there any way to put an end to these incessant calls?

I got a badly taped message saying I had to ring 0203 129 6617 or face legal trouble. Who on earth does HMRC ring on a Bank Holiday Monday? Seems off to me!

I received a pre-recorded voicemail threatening legal action unless either I or my solicitor returned the call. It’s patently a scam! As a 74-year-old, I must admit it caused me some concern for a moment there.

I've just received a voicemail that sounds rather menacing, mentioning possible legal repercussions. I could really use some assistance in sorting this out and ensuring these scoundrels face justice.

I just received an automated call purporting to be from HM Customs and Excise, stating that a fee needed to be settled to avert further legal proceedings. I find it highly unlikely that they'd reach out on a personal number, especially not at 1 AM on a public holiday. The clarity of the message was dismal; I had to replay it multiple times just to catch the phone number, which I have no intention of responding to. Feels very dodgy to me!

Got a voicemail from this number, but it was just some garbled message about taking legal steps or something. Couldn't make much sense of it, honestly. Pretty frustrating not knowing what it was about!

They mentioned they might pursue legal proceedings if I don't get back to them soon. I found that quite concerning, to say the least.

About an hour after the initial call, I got another one and thankfully the recording glitch was fixed this time. I can imagine this sort of call would really freak out a lot of folks who don’t have a site like this to check who’s calling.

I came across a warning on the HMRC site about a phone scam going around. Apparently, people are getting leaving a voicemail that claims to be from HMRC, saying they're going to take legal action against them. The message tells you to ring 0161 8508494 and press ‘1’ to talk to the person handling the case. It’s getting pretty common, especially hitting older folks, so watch out for it!

I got this dodgy call with a garbled recording barely making sense, something about HMRC and facing consequences if I didn't ring back. Sounds like one of those scams that's been going around forever. Best to just block it and not bother.

The number showed up on the caller ID the second time and my husband accidentally picked up. It was the same poor quality message everyone keeps talking about. The first call was withheld, just like others have said.

Got a voicemail today warning me not to ignore the call, said something about legal action if I did. Sounds like a total scam to me. The number that showed up was 0203 129 6617.

When I got back, I discovered I had two voicemails from this number- the second one was quite muddled, spoken by a rather mature woman. Naturally, my first instinct was to hop online and see what I could uncover about it.

Today, I received a pair of pretty unclear voicemails from 02031296617. The voice (a lady’s) mentioned something about an urgent matter, but since I’ve had several similar calls and emails before, I decided to search online before reacting. That search led me to this site. Honestly, it amazes me how these folks can carry on without feeling guilty, scaring genuine people like this. Really disgusting behaviour!

Today i got three voicemails all within about 90 minutes. The audio was really hard to make out, quite muffled and confusing. The message was some kind of threat, telling me that either me or my solicitor had to ring them back, mentioning it was urgent and time sensitive. Honestly, the only thing that kept me calm was how rubbish the recording was - you’d hardly be able to figure out who the caller was! Still, i bet it would unsettle a lot of people hearing that.

Had two calls from this number today, someone pretending to be HMRC. They were insisting I ring back 0203 129 6617 straight away or face legal trouble. Definitely not ringing them back, HMRC wouldn’t speak like that, sounded really dodgy and the way they spoke was all weird. I’m guessing if you do call, it’s probably some expensive premium line?

Honestly, this kind of threatening text can really freak people out if they actually believe it. Just don't pay any attention to it. If there's an actual problem, they'll send something through proper channels.

So, I rang this number back and someone picked up pretending to be from HMRC. That’s basically pretending to be a government office, which is proper fraud if you ask me.

In the past three hours, I've had the same automated message land on my voicemail twice. Unfortunately, my answering machine didn’t pick up the start of the message, so I can’t ascertain who the caller claimed to be on behalf of. However, being threatened with legal proceedings is decidedly unwelcome. I really hope the proper authorities can intervene to put an end to these harrowing calls. Best, Martin S.

I got a call from this number just before 1 o'clock this afternoon. It was a recorded voice claiming to be from the Revenue Office, warning me about potential charges if I didn’t ring them back imminently, stating that it was "urgent". Quite dubious, if you ask me!

Seems like a proper scam or some annoying harassment thing, and honestly, they don't seem very clever about it. I couldn’t find any name with this reverse lookup, so I’m guessing it’s some private landline. Makes me wonder if the Action Fraud folks actually catch these people or just let them get away with it. Fingers crossed they do!

Got another call from this number today, although the first time it came through as private. On the second go the number showed up. Same as what others have mentioned - a poorly made recording about my taxes and advising me to contact a lawyer. Best just to ignore and hang up.

Got a call from 02031296617, this guy with an Asian accent saying his name was “Jason”. He claimed I hadn’t settled my tax and I’d be fined. Thing is, I don’t even pay tax! So I ended up ringing Action Fraud to report it - definitely looks like some kind of scam going on.

I got two calls from 02031296617 today. The first one had the number hidden and left a really bad voicemail that was hard to understand. The second was from the actual number, and they kept going on about some legal action if I didn’t call back. Honestly, I just ignored it, didn’t seem worth my time.

Like others have mentioned, I've got a really bad quality voicemail about something to do with a solicitor and customs or excise. They've rung me three times just today alone.

Not sure who rang me, but the voicemail seems to be from a solicitor warning about legal trouble. The lady’s voice was a bit scratchy and not clear. They’ve phoned a few times, but I haven’t picked up since the number and area code look unfamiliar.
