Got a call from a woman with a West Indian accent claiming I'd won a £50 hamper. She said she was calling from BT, so I asked where she was ringing from and she insisted it was the UK. I told her I'd contact BT myself since companies here aren't meant to cold call. She tried to say it wasn't a cold call, but I told her it was, as I'd never signed up for any competition or raffle and wasn't waiting for any prize. Then she just hung up on me.

They've called me twice over the last couple of days, and honestly, I’ve stopped picking up my landline because it’s just nonstop nonsense. They hang up straight away anyway. Of course, it happened again on a Saturday lunchtime - what a surprise! These folks clearly don’t mind bothering anyone. If they actually needed to get hold of us, they’d ring the mobiles or leave a message. I’m just ignoring the landline now, it’s pointless.

Just got a call from some place called "Global Consumer Leads" - had a quick look at their site and honestly, you’re better off not picking up when they ring. Sounds like one of those market research firms that try to trick you into giving personal details by dangling fake rewards. I had a look at their site, something like [#]global-leads[###]/who-we-are.html, and it felt pretty dodgy to me. Just watch out, they might not be as genuine as they claim.

I think they might be passing on your details, like your name and phone number, along with any info you share, to other firms such as Goodwin Barrett. I found this out because the very next day, Goodwin called me asking if I was interested in compensation for poor investments, which was strangely similar to some of the questions they’d asked me before.

Got called by some call centre focused on targeted adverts, they pretty much ignore any Ex directory listings or tries to get them to stop. Ended up taking 6 calls in just 4 hours, had no choice but to block the number after that.
