Just today, I got a text pretending to be from BT, telling me to call a number to get a message. I just deleted it straight away. Don’t reply or you might end up getting charged!!!

Got this robo call a couple times now threatening legal stuff but never asked for my name. If they dont ask you by name, its not legit, so just tune it out. Loads of folks get caught by this, but if you owe anything, they’d definitely want to speak to you directly. My mum, who’s 85, got the exact same call this week. Really terrible people doing this.

I received a call from this number earlier today, and I must admit it's rather troubling for someone of my age, being in my 80s and not quite keeping up with modern technology. I often reminisce about the days when the telegram lad would deliver messages on his bicycle-those were truly simpler times. No one bothered with locked doors, and everyone was so much more amiable. If anyone caused a fuss, they’d get a good talking to from the local constable, or my father would pay them a visit to sort things out. Ah, how things have changed!

I got a couple of robo calls saying I had to contact them straight away. I called back on my mobile and they claimed to be from the tax office, asking for my landline so they could "fix the issue." I told them I wasn’t comfy with the call but still gave my home number. Then they asked if I was Mrs [surname], and when I said no, they just hung up. It freaked me out since they used my partner’s name, so I searched the number here and saw similar reports.

Lately, I’ve been inundated with calls from this number, probably half a dozen times in the last month or so. Honestly, the whole notion of them threatening legal action is utterly laughable. I’d strongly recommend that anyone who gets a call from this number just brushes it off completely. It’s about time the telecom companies took a stand against this sort of nonsense! I wouldn’t be surprised if dialling that number incurs hefty fees. Steer clear of ringing back! And please, let's ensure our older family members are well-informed never to engage with such unsolicited calls.

I received a call from HMRC on the 4th of August, 2017, and I promptly informed the caller that HMRC doesn't ring individuals without prior written communication. The caller hung up straight away, revealing it was obviously a scam. It's astonishing that, despite all the warnings from others, these sorts of calls are still happening. Surely it wouldn't be too difficult for the authorities to track them down; I'd say they deserve a hefty sentence of at least ten years!

Got a really soft recorded message saying I or a lawyer need to call back right away about some legal issue. It warned not to ignore or there’d be legal trouble. Weirdly, the person says "take care" at the end! Tried calling back to find out who it was but the number couldn’t be traced.

I've received about six of these calls myself, all featuring that same recorded message. It's clearly a scam, isn’t it? I'm curious if anyone who's foolish enough to call back has noticed an increase on their phone bill. The caller ID shows as international, which absolutely raises my suspicions-there's no way our HMRC would be operating from overseas!

I've had a right laugh over these con artists posing as HMRC, trying to coax my account info out of me under the guise of 'verification'! It’s absolutely ridiculous, they need to be shown the door immediately!

It's a fraudulent fishing operation - steer clear of them at all costs!

I called this number back but no one answered, then outta nowhere I started getting loads of dodgy porn links sent to me.

Received a call from this number earlier today, so I've now blocked it on my phone. Just a heads-up to everyone - the HMRC typically sends correspondence through the post rather than calling, so steer clear of any unexpected phone calls from them!

Absolutely infuriating and quite distressing-it really ought to be prohibited!

I tried calling the number back and there was loads of noise in the background, with automated voices and people chatting. When I asked who it was, the answer was a bit unclear but sounded like HM Customs. I mentioned I got a call from them earlier and the person said they'd check, then put me on hold before just cutting the call.

Got two automated calls, both pretty much like what everyone else is saying.

Received a call purporting to be from HMRC, but the message was rather muddled and the audio quality left much to be desired. They insisted on urgent attention, which honestly just added to the stress of the situation. Don’t they have more pressing matters to deal with? This sort of thing ought to be prohibited right away!

Got 4 voicemails over the bank holiday weekend saying legal action would be taken if I didn’t ring back. Its a recorded message that garbles halfway through. They didn’t even use our name or say who they were from. Pretty clear scam to me. Wonder if anyone’s actually bothered to call them back!

i honestly don’t get how my number keeps popping up even tho i’ve been on the tps list for ages. they really oughta track these people down and make sure they get the proper punishment.

I keep getting these incessant calls, it's quite bothersome and utterly intrusive.

they say they’re from the tax office - and it’s a bank holiday too! i don’t get how my number still gets targeted when i’ve been on the tps list for ages. these folks need to be caught and dealt with properly under the law.

Like the others, got a really bad connection and didn’t bother to ring back.

They never said my name, just left a voicemail telling me to respond or else they’ll take legal steps. The message was half in English and half in some African language. I just ignored it and blocked the caller.

Just like others mentioned before, i got a recorded message warning about legal trouble if I dont respond - but how can they prove anything without paper proof? Best to just ignore it!

Got a messed up voicemail, only just caught the last bit where they were threatening to take legal steps if I didn’t get back to them.
