Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent who kept saying his name was Gary Watson and he was phoning from Windows. Typical scam stuff about my computer having a virus. I guessed right away it was dodgy, so I played along for a bit, then said, "Wow, when did Apple start running Windows?" That seemed to confuse him and the call ended quickly after that!

Got a call from someone called James, said he was from Windows Corp. He claimed loads of apps on my laptop weren’t functioning right (definitely not true!). He said he would sort it out for me, which I found a bit funny to be honest. Turns out, this is a scam - I read online that a few folks fell for it and ended up with their laptops locked down. Avoid it!

I got a call from 02031291406 about some issue with my computer's Windows. They told me to enter some letters into the search bar. I got a bit suspicious and paused. Then I looked up your site to check. Apparently, the guy tried ringing me back but I decided not to pick up. Definitely a scam.

Today, on 1/09/2016, I got a call from someone named Jack claiming to be from Microsoft Windows tech support. He was pretty eager to assist me and asked me to have a pen and paper ready to help protect me from hackers when I use the internet. After a bit, I told him to leave me alone and that I'd look up the number myself. This was actually the second time this week he'd called, and he was quite pushy about it.

On 19th August 2016, I got a call from a bloke named James claiming to be from Windows Help and Support, using the number 02031291406. He said my computer was creating issues at Microsoft and wanted me to let him in to fix the problems. He even gave me a supposed Windows security ID, but I knew it was rubbish. I told him I was tied up at the moment and asked him to ring me back in a couple of hours. That gave me some time to look up the number, and sure enough, it turned out to be connected to a scam.

I received a call from some blokes claiming my laptop was compromised, insisting they needed to remotely access it. I allowed them in, and they made quite a fuss about a WiFi issue, claiming it was infested with something nasty from '96 in both India and China. After they finished their so-called work, I powered it down only to find I couldn't connect to the internet the next day. When I expressed this concern, they acted as if I was lying and demanded around £200 for internet security. I was taken aback and explained I simply couldn't manage that expense. After a chat with his supervisor, they came back with a lowered offer of £91. They insisted further work was imperative; otherwise, my Windows licence would lapse that night. They bombarded me with calls for the payment afterwards. Just this Tuesday, I mentioned taking my laptop back to the shop where I bought it for a proper fix. They insisted they couldn't assist and claimed they'd have to send it off for a hard drive replacement, along with a full reset. When they called again, I told them the laptop was already on its way to being repaired. This seemed to baffle them; they asked if I had another laptop handy. I said no, and he abruptly hung up. Quite the encounter, I must say!

I've been receiving dodgy calls from individuals with Asian accents who seem to have a real penchant for outdated English names. They claim to represent Microsoft or Windows, attempting to weasel their way into accessing my home computer. The moment I mention that I'm aware it's a scam, they promptly terminate the call. Quite cheeky, if you ask me!

This chap is incredibly relentless! He’s already given me a ring thrice today and insists he’ll be back at it again tomorrow. He’s not one to back down easily, is he? But neither am I! I certainly don’t require his so-called assistance or whatever he’s peddling.

Same here, just got a call from David spouting the exact same nonsense. Obviously a scam. I told Action Fraud about it but I’m not sure if they’ll actually do anything to put a stop to this.

Some guy named Peter rang me, said he was from the Windows Help Desk and told me my PC was infected with a virus, asked me to turn it on. I told him to give me his number, 0203 1291406, so I could verify if he was legit. Turns out, this is definitely a FRAUD!

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Windows, wanted to mess about with my computer settings. Told them I'd call back later as I was busy, which they didn't seem to like one bit. Of course, I wasn't planning to call them again. They even gave me their number so I could warn others it was a scam, so that bit was actually pretty helpful.

I keep getting calls from the number 0203 459 2077, with the caller claiming to be from Microsoft. I usually just tell them I don’t use a Windows device and that I’m aware it’s a scam before putting the phone down. Unfortunately, I know someone who actually got caught out and ended up ruining their computer so badly that they had to ditch it and buy a completely different brand. Classic Windows tech support scam!

Today, I received a rather persistent call from this number. The caller was adamant that my computer was compromised with a nasty infection, insisting that my security measures and firewall were utterly ineffective. I decided to humour them for a bit, just for a laugh. I even inquired about who funded their so-called free service - whether they were backed by a charity or something similar. In the end, he threw in the towel. It was quite evident from the start that it was a scam; reputable businesses simply don't operate in this manner.

Received an early morning call at 7:20am from a chap sporting an American accent who struggled to get my distinctly British surname right. He claimed he was calling from near Victoria station, yet couldn't give me a clue about the local weather! After some back and forth, he mentioned he was actually based in Singapore. He insisted there was an issue with my computer and Windows. I replied that I was perfectly happy with my double glazing (can you believe it?!), and I requested to speak to his supervisor. Unsurprisingly, the line went silent after that. Even with my registration with the Telephone Preference Service, these sorts of calls keep coming through, likely because they originate from abroad - 00 989 893 1748, if you're curious! Clearly a SCAM; don’t fall for it. Microsoft never makes unsolicited calls to its customers!

I have a strong suspicion that this was a scam operation trying to extract our computer information.
