Got a few calls on the 11th of May from this number, about 5 times actually, and it felt off straight away. The bloke claimed to be a TalkTalk technician and said he had to get into my computer. Normally, I’d expect TalkTalk to verify who they are and ask for some kind of voice password or ID, which he didn’t do. If anything goes to court, I’m ready to back things up.

This number rang me earlier, pretending to be from the Telephone Preference Service, asking if I pay my phone bill via direct debit. Then they said they’d block all unwanted calls and wanted me to confirm my card details. I just kept quiet for a bit and then ended the call. That was around 1pm. Since then, they’ve called me roughly half a dozen more times. I even tried checking who it was by dialling 1471. I’m 87 years old and really don’t need this kind of pestering.

Someone said they was from TalkTalk so I played along and told them it’s funny they called back about the scam with a fault I already reported to the police, and the fraud team is tracking it from my phone. They hung up straight away! (Can't say I'm surprised!) :-)

Someone called saying they were from Virgin, but my poor router started crashing all over the place. I just pretend to go along with it to waste their time, and keep telling them to speak louder cos I can barely hear a thing. When I get fed up, I usually tell them they’re a load of lying tossers ;) and hang up first, or sometimes I just blow a huge whistle straight into the phone.

Looks like these lot are using the exact same spiel as last year when I kept getting calls like this and Talktalk actually sorted me out with a call block for them. Now they’re ringing from a different number, spouting rubbish about ‘issues with our internet’ and trying to blag passwords or something. I’ve blocked this one too but I’m sure they’ll just switch to another number eventually.

Absolutely a scam. This number called me twice today. The first call was from a bloke with an Indian accent saying he was with BT Openreach, telling me there was some security issue with my router (this was actually the third time I've got a call like this recently). Then later, a lady with an American accent phoned, saying she was from TalkTalk. Total dodgy business.

I didn't pick up and the call stopped straight away. I get calls like these from similar numbers quite often, and it's clear to me it's one of those annoying scam calls. I'll block the number but then another similar one pops up next time. Honestly, I reckon the best option is to switch providers and get a new number.

11:45 in the mornin on Tues 02/05/17. Answered the call - no one spoke. Second scam call in one day! This happens like 4 or 5 times a week now. Reckon phone companies don’t wanna work together to stop it - they probably profit from all these calls going through. They can trace calls and shut down the scammers and even get their payment info, then share it with other providers, but none of that is done cause these calls just keep coming. Any phone providers out there gonna say anything about it???

Today (2 May), I got a call from a polite lady with a foreign accent claiming to be from Talktalk - it was the first time they’d rang me. I told her I couldn’t hear properly so she passed me over to a bloke calling himself Brian Wilson. He said they were doing a router check and insisted he could access my computer. I wasn’t having any of it after watching a TV show earlier that day warning about scams like this, where they pretend to be Talktalk and later steal money from your bank once they get into your computer. Best to be really careful with these calls nowadays.

Called on 28/04/2017 by someone saying they were from TalkTalk, claiming our internet had issues. He asked to connect to our computer to show the fault and fix it. The line was bad and the man spoke with an Asian accent. We told him straight up that our internet was fine and ended the call.

Got a call from this number once on 28/4/2017 around 1:51pm. Picked up but no one spoke, just silence. It looked like a UK number on the caller ID, but when I checked the full number, it had loads of extra digits like 780644413725844 after it. Strange!

Looks like it was that Ryan bloke from Windows again. Messed up my first laptop big time and even tried to scare me into paying up. They usually pop up with an 08000 number and are definitely not local. Best just to ignore those calls.

Some bloke called claiming to be from TalkTalk, saying my computer was infected and needed fixing. I told him he was talking rubbish since I’m not even a TalkTalk customer, then they just cut me off. Then, the very next day, the same number rings saying they’re from Microsoft asking for the same access. When I mentioned I use an Apple computer, they dropped the call straight away. Don’t even own an Apple though, but it was satisfying to catch them out!
