Caller had an Asian accent and there was loads of noise in the background. Claimed to be from BT about my broadband. Got a few calls over the last week at all sorts of times. Definitely a scam.

On the 11th of May, I got no fewer than five calls from this number, which struck me as a bit odd. The caller claimed to be a technician from TalkTalk and insisted he needed to get into my computer. Frankly, I would have thought TalkTalk would verify their identity and request my voice recognition password before proceeding. I’m more than willing to step forward as a witness should any legal actions be taken.

I had a rather dodgy call earlier; they claimed to be from TalkTalk's technical support, suggesting they needed to conduct a scan on my computer to identify some supposedly critical faults. I could sense something was off straight away, so I promptly ended the conversation. I've now decided to run a thorough scan on my device myself just to ensure everything is in order.

I recently got a rather suspicious call from this number, with the caller purporting to be from the Telephone Preference Service. They inquired whether I settle my phone bill via direct debit, which raised my eyebrows. The individual then claimed they could halt all unwanted calls if I verified my card details. I decided to keep them on the line for a bit, but eventually chose to hang up. That was around one in the afternoon. Since then, they've tried to contact me roughly six more times! I even called 1471 to check the number. At the age of 87, I certainly do not appreciate such intrusions into my day-to-day life.

Someone called saying they were from Virgin, but my poor router started crashing all over the place. I just pretend to go along with it to waste their time, and keep telling them to speak louder cos I can barely hear a thing. When I get fed up, I usually tell them they’re a load of lying tossers ;) and hang up first, or sometimes I just blow a huge whistle straight into the phone.

Looks like these lot are using the exact same spiel as last year when I kept getting calls like this and Talktalk actually sorted me out with a call block for them. Now they’re ringing from a different number, spouting rubbish about ‘issues with our internet’ and trying to blag passwords or something. I’ve blocked this one too but I’m sure they’ll just switch to another number eventually.

Absolutely a scam! This morning, we received two calls from the same number. The first was from a chap with an Indian accent who claimed to be working for BT Openreach, alerting me to some supposed security issues with my router (can you believe it? It was the third time I've had such a call lately!). The second one was an American-accented lady who introduced herself as representing TalkTalk. Quite the dubious duo if you ask me!

11:45 in the mornin on Tues 02/05/17. Answered the call - no one spoke. Second scam call in one day! This happens like 4 or 5 times a week now. Reckon phone companies don’t wanna work together to stop it - they probably profit from all these calls going through. They can trace calls and shut down the scammers and even get their payment info, then share it with other providers, but none of that is done cause these calls just keep coming. Any phone providers out there gonna say anything about it???

Today, on the 2nd of May, I received a call from a rather polite lady with a foreign accent, who mentioned she was representing TalkTalk. This was the first time I'd heard from them. When I struggled to follow what she was saying, she transferred me to someone who introduced himself as Brian Wilson. He claimed they were conducting checks on my router and was adamant that he could access my computer. Having just watched a television programme earlier that morning about scams where individuals pose as TalkTalk representatives to siphon money from unsuspecting victims’ bank accounts after gaining computer access, I firmly declined to provide him with any information. It's truly wise to stay alert in these times!

I received a rather dubious call the other day. The caller claimed to be from TalkTalk and insisted that my computer was riddled with viruses, wanting me to grant them access. I mean, seriously? I told them outright they were fibbing, as I'm not even a TalkTalk customer, and just like that, they hung up. Then, lo and behold, the very same number rings again the following day! This time, they proclaimed to be from Microsoft, asking for the same access to my machine. I deftly mentioned that I use a Mac, which promptly led to their silence on the other end of the line.
