Loads of calls from different numbers with a recorded voice saying HMRC is about to sue me. Today, I pressed 1 on one of these calls and told the so-called "case worker" not to ring me again because it’s all fake. He challenged me, asking how I knew he wasn’t from HMRC. I got two calls from 0203 0954710 on 14th August, once around 1:12pm and again about 2:24pm. Both times, there was a recorded voice saying something along the lines of, "This is an official call from HMRC letting you know they're taking legal action against you. Press 1 to speak to your case manager." I reported it to the email address listed on the site, which was simple enough, but trying to report it through Action Fraud was a bit of a nightmare and way too clunky. The HMRC email route was much smoother to handle.

The way it's worded is really sneaky, making it sound like there's already a lawsuit ready and you’ve got a case officer assigned. Honestly, this is one of the scariest scam calls I’ve got so far.

I got two missed calls from this number while I wasn’t home, and they left a garbled voicemail about some HMRC lawsuit. When I answered today, they picked up straight away and prompted me to press 1. They already had my name and address, which freaked me out, and then asked for my National Insurance number. I didn’t give it since it seemed dodgy. They claimed it was about something fishy on my tax return, but I don’t even file one, so it’s totally dodgy. The call just ended when I refused to share my NINO. This kind of thing is seriously worrying and should be stopped.
