Got a call from what sounded like HMRC but it was definitely a recorded message with some really harsh, bossy voice saying I'd be arrested if I didn’t act. It was pretty intense and creative but totally dodgy. Makes me really worried for older folks - these scams can be so cruel. Even just letting the phone ring leaves you stressing, not sure what’s real and what’s a scam.

Looks like a total hmre ripoff to me.

Got a call from a number saying I owed tax and I was going to be arrested, sounded like a total scam so I just hung up. Didn’t trust it for a second.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming she works for the Queen, saying I owed tax money. Turns out it’s one of those classic HMRC scams. These scammers try to freak you out by saying the police will show up at your door in an hour if you don’t pay up on the phone. Proper dodgy stuff and pretty terrifying if you don’t know it’s fake!
