Got a ring from HMRC claiming I owed some tax and threatened I'd be thrown in jail if I didn't answer. The woman on the line called me “Jon Smith” and insisted I needed to cough up £1,000 for some supposed unpaid tax. I just blocked the number straight away. - Caller ID: ‭020 1200 9959‬

Just a heads up, there’s a scam going around where you get a robocall saying HMRC’s taking legal action against you. They then tell you to press one to chat with someone about paying up. This isn’t legit, so if you get one of these calls, hang up straight away. HMRC already knows about this trick.

Just got a call claiming to be from hmrc, total scam! when i wouldn't give my name, they threatened to send an officer with an arrest warrant after me! what a load of rubbish, there's no way hmrc handles stuff like that! don't ever share your personal info or bank details, even if they sound official! all blocked now!
