Phone number ☎️ 02003331367 👆 is reported as a persistent and distressing scam involving automated calls impersonating HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), threatening legal action for alleged tax fraud. The callers use various London-based numbers and instruct recipients to press a button to speak to a "case worker," aiming to intimidate especially older or vulnerable individuals. Genuine HMRC correspondence is always in writing, never by unsolicited phone calls. Many have warned that engaging with these callers risks exposure to fraud or high charges. The scam uses threatening language and foreign accents, causing confusion and fear. Authorities and phone providers are urged to take firm action, while potential victims are advised to hang up, block the numbers, and report incidents to official fraud and police channels.

Got a call from 0200 200 5731, just like others have mentioned before. It was an automated voice claiming to be from ‘HMRC’, saying there’s some tax fraud linked to me and if I don’t press ‘1’ to speak to my case handler, they’ll take legal steps. Total rubbish. I sort my tax through Scotland and the HMRC branch I’d deal with is up there too. Using a fake London number is a dead giveaway.

Just got a call saying HMRC’s gonna take me to court, press 1 to speak to my case worker, but the number was 02003330275. I ended the call straight away but I’m in my 70s and I reckon some folks my age might fall for it. Something really needs to be done about these calls. I wanted to say it was scary and worrying but since I couldn’t choose those options, I marked it as harassing instead.

I received a rather menacing message from a stern gentleman, who claims to be from the tax office, informing me of a pending lawsuit against me. The message advised me to press 1 in order to speak to a case worker. Momentarily startled, I set my phone down and proceeded to verify the legitimacy of the number by conducting an online search. Needless to say, I was both shaken and furious by this alarming situation.

This is a scam. If you get a call like this, try these steps: 1. Ask them where they are based, saying something like “I only pay by cheque through the post as I don’t have any bank cards.” 2. Ask a security question, like they should give you your UTR number. 3. Ask another security question, such as your NI number. Since they aren’t legit, they won’t be able to answer questions 2 and 3. 4. If they push you for bank details, give them sort code 08-32-10 and account number 12001039 (these belong to HMRC). If they try to take money from that account, HMRC will track them down.
