I recently received one of those dodgy phone calls. A woman at the other end asked, "Can you hear me?" which is just a sneaky way to fish for a “Yes” response. If you happen to fall into that trap, you could be signed up for all sorts of marketing nonsense or, worse still, end up in a tangle with credit card or bank agreements, leading to unauthorised payments. The call appeared to originate from Carnarthen in North Wales, but honestly, they could be ringing from anywhere, given how they love to misrepresent their caller ID. What’s alarming is that they record your answer and subsequently use that to sanction all manner of unwelcome charges on your phone bills, utility fees, or credit cards. Just a word of caution-stay vigilant against these scammers!
