They said they were ringing from plan.com (another warning sign) about my Vodafone deal (biggest warning sign yet) - I just hung up and blocked the number. Since then I’ve had loads of calls from 01952 780*** numbers all claiming to be from plan.com. I reckon they’ll run out of numbers long before I lose my patience :))

I got a call from a woman working at a call centre in Telford but the line was really poor. She first mentioned she was with O2 and wanted to talk about my contract, saying I was listed as a sole trader, asking if that was right. I didn’t reply and asked again who she was with, then she said plan.com, talking about whether my phone deal suited me. I ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

Got a ring on 01952780639 which showed as a landline. They claimed to be a mobile phone marketing company offering great deals. Wanted loads of details like full name, postcode, address, date of birth and all that. I said my name was Charles Windsor and my postcode SW1 1AA. When they asked for the house number I told them "The Palace", said it never had one but the postman always manages to find Buckingham Palace. Asked for my DOB, I said I couldn't quite remember, my memory’s slipping a bit. Reckon they caught on then and just rudely hung up on me.

Got a cold call from local landline 01952 780639, so I picked up. It was a polite man with a British accent. He guessed my mobile network was Vodafone, which it isn’t, then went through some other names like ASDA, Lebara, and EE. I didn’t say which one I actually use. When I asked why he was ringing, he said he wanted to offer a better deal. I didn’t let him ask for any personal info and have since blocked the number as it felt dodgy, probably a scam.

Got a call from a Telford area code, which I’m local to, so I picked up. A person claiming to be from “plan.com” was talking about my phone deal with Three and mentioned I’m a sole trader. No idea how they knew that. Then they passed me to another woman who called me by a wrong name and asked me to confirm who I was. I didn’t want to give any info, so I just ended the call. Not sure if it’s a scam or just some telemarketers, but it’s a bit worrying how they got hold of my details.

When I told her I’m not a sole trader anymore, she quickly said sorry and said she’d take me off their list. Ended by wishing me a good day. Proper good example of telemarketing. I received a rather perplexing call recently from someone claiming to discuss my O2 account. The peculiar thing is, I don’t even have an account with them! When I pointed this out, the caller proceeded to rattle off names of various other providers that operate on the O2 network, presumably in hopes of discovering if I had an account with any of them to continue their "conversation". I never did glean what information he was actually after, but it was quite evident he had an ulterior motive. Consequently, I chose to end the call swiftly.
