Somebody called saying they were from plan.com working for 02, telling me I didn’t have an account. They started mentioning Tesco and other companies, so I asked them to keep naming networks. Then they said something like “oh, services piggyback each other - if you’re not with them I’ll sort out the service.” They didn’t seem to know anything about me.

On 11th January 2023, I got a call from 01952780634. A woman said she was calling from EE and could offer me a better deal than I have now, starting straight away. I asked what my current rate was and she said she didn't know, so I told her to call back the next day. Then I went to the EE shop in Worthing and they told me that no one else but EE handles these things, and my contract wasn’t up for renewal until July 2023. The same woman called me again on 12th January 2023 and claimed she was from EE. When I asked for more info about the company she hung up on me.

I reckon this kind of pretending is dodgy and probably illegal. Best to just say, "No thanks, not interested."

I had a rather suspicious call today from the number 01952 780634 (09/01/23). The chap on the other end claimed to be representing O2. When I quizzed him on whom he wished to speak with, he simply stated "the account holder." I pointed out that if he truly was with O2, he ought to already know my name. His response was rather telling-he backtracked and admitted he wasn't with O2 at all! That was enough for me; I promptly ended the call. Clearly, this is not above board and reeks of a scam.

Honestly, give the scam caller some credit, the lady quickly admitted she wasn’t directly from Three but calling about my contract with them. I reckon I threw her off by telling her right away that my phone flagged her number as spam. What’s worrying is she clearly knew I’m with Three, even though I’ve kept the same number through Vodafone, Orange and EE in the past. So the number itself doesn’t show who my provider is. They must have access to some sort of database. Blocked her straight away.

I received a call regarding my O2 account, which is rather puzzling since I haven’t held one in years! The caller claimed to represent a service for small businesses or self-employed individuals, identifying themselves as being from Plan.com. They were quite polite and suggested I look up their website. Now, Plan.com appears to be quite an impressive establishment, based in the Isle of Man, focussing on all sorts of telecommunications while throwing around a lot of technical speak that could leave anyone dizzy. However, curiously, I couldn’t find a contact number for them listed anywhere on their site! When I inquired about the name they had for me, they mentioned someone I know with a rather distinctive name. The only connection I have to that name is through a Go Fund Me campaign I supported. Is it possible that Go Fund Me has sold donor information? This whole situation raises some troubling questions.

I turned them down, but they also asked if I was a sole trader called ‘Jigsaw’ - that’s actually the name me and my mate use as guitar players. No idea how they found that out.

At first, they said they wanted to see if they could help me save money (as if that really happens), then asked if I was a business customer (which I’m definitely not)... then they just ended the call out of nowhere?
