I received a rather dubious call from someone claiming to represent a Lifestyle company, urging me to participate in a survey about my lifestyle choices. To sweeten the deal, he mentioned that I could snag a bonus voucher if I filled it out with full honesty. However, I’ve got a strong feeling this could be some sort of scam. Definitely seems like phishing to me!

So I picked up and the bloke asked if he was talking to me by my name. I told him, yeah, it’s me, so what do you want? He tried to be friendly and asked how I was, but I just cut in with another ‘what do you want?’ Then he said something like ‘I know I’m speaking to Mrs [my name]’ and just ended with a quick goodbye. Pretty weird call, really.

Ugh, hate picking up calls from numbers I don’t recognise. I hit reject right away. Then they called back straight away, like 4 times one after another, then I just let it ring out. If it's something urgent, just drop a voicemail. These cold calls are seriously the worst and should be stopped.

Got a call from some lifestyle firm but couldn’t quite get the full name they gave. I asked them to remove me from their contact list, but they flat out refused and said they’d ring me again. I told them firmly not to call, yet they insisted they’d be in touch again. Really annoyed me how rude they were and how they just wouldn’t respect my ‘no’. Now they keep ringing back from different numbers.

Got a call from this bloke with a South Asian accent who said I was the first person to be kind to him all day. He wanted to confirm if I was the person they had on record and if my address was right (how the heck do they get all that info?). Then he asked if I watched telly, I told him no. After that, he started swearing like mad and then made silly noises non-stop when I told him to take me off their list. Proper weird experience!

I usually just hang up straight away when I get calls with that awful scripted broken English, but today I decided to actually listen to the whole forced conversation (I say forced because if you ask them anything, they just shout louder and ignore you completely). So, the guy said he had 3 questions for me. The first was confirming my address, which I found odd. When I asked why he needed to ask three questions, he said it was to help launch some new product in the UK. I kept trying to get a clear answer on how my replies would help, but he just kept repeating the questions louder, while I calmly repeated my query. Eventually, after me refusing to just answer blindly, he hung up on me - how cheeky! What really gets me is GDPR feels pointless. I've asked hundreds of times for my data to be removed and where they got it from, but every time I get cut off. Sure, I block the numbers, but is there anything that actually stops these calls at source? I'm careful about who I give my info to and always opt out, so I imagine my details were leaked somewhere. It's so frustrating.

At work today, I got a call from an Asian bloke who wanted to talk to me by my proper name. I told him I couldn’t chat as I was busy working, and then he just lost it, telling me to go f - myself and calling me a mother f - er before telling me to f - off. So rude!
