Annoying telephone call!

Honestly, the government ain't gonna lift a finger, mate. I could try sorting it out myself since I'm a private investigator, but it'll cost a fair bit, seeing as I'm not working for free.

Honestly, I just let those random numbers ring out and don’t bother answering.

Got this out of the blue, so I've just gone ahead and blocked the number.

They rang me up, I picked up and then suddenly the line just dropped.

A couple days back I got a call from someone with an Indian accent who already knew my name. When I asked what the call was regarding, they just hung up. So, I decided not to pick up when they rang again this evening.

it's just awful how some folks love to mess about and waste everyone’s time like that

So I picked up and the bloke asked if he was talking to me by my name. I told him, yeah, it’s me, so what do you want? He tried to be friendly and asked how I was, but I just cut in with another ‘what do you want?’ Then he said something like ‘I know I’m speaking to Mrs [my name]’ and just ended with a quick goodbye. Pretty weird call, really.

Honestly, I have no clue who it is, but it just winds me up getting these dodgy scam calls all the time.

Got a missed call on my phone but no voicemail or anything. I looked up the number here and apparently it's just another dodgy scam call. Feels like every time I block one, a new one pops up straight away. So annoying!

I received a call from a gentleman with an Indian accent, and when I inquired about the purpose of his call, he just kept talking over me. I tried to ask my question again, and his response was quite shocking-he told me to shove off!

I encountered a rather impolite person who began to make all sorts of peculiar sounds in my direction.

I requested the gentleman to remove my number from their calling roster, but he outright refused. When I mentioned that it’s legally required for him to comply with my request, he abruptly cut the conversation short and hung up. Quite frustrating, really!

Charming chap, yet his heavy Asian accent made it rather difficult to grasp what he was on about. He mentioned his location during the call, but I couldn't quite catch it. He referenced an old address of mine, which was a bit concerning. When he inquired about my age, I politely declined to divulge any personal details. At that point, the atmosphere shifted rather abruptly; he told me to ruddy well bugger off and hung up.

Blimey, I really can’t stand picking up calls from numbers I don’t recognise! So I just hit decline and hung up. They called back straight away-four times in a row, mind you-before I finally let it ring without answering. If it’s something significant, they should just leave a message, right? Honestly, these nuisance calls are beyond frustrating! They ought to put a stop to them altogether!

Received a call from some sort of lifestyle firm, but I missed the complete name they mentioned. I requested to be removed from their list, but they flatly refused and claimed they would ring me again. When I reiterated my wishes not to be contacted, they still insisted they'd be in touch. Quite uncouth, if you ask me, and utterly dismissive of my objections. To top it off, they keep harassing me from various different numbers!

I received a call from this number, and it was a chap with a South Asian twang in his voice. Surprisingly, he expressed his gratitude for my politeness, saying I was the first person to be decent to him all day. He inquired whether I was indeed who he thought I was and whether the address he had was accurate (I can't help but wonder how they manage to obtain such information). He then asked if I ever watched television, to which I replied in the negative. That’s when things took a turn; he started hurling a barrage of colourful language my way before resorting to some rather immature sounds non-stop when I requested he delete my details.

I inquired about their identity, and they promptly ended the call. The voice sounded quite curt and had a distinct Indian accent.

Received a couple of calls during my lunch break, with the caller addressing me by name. It was a woman with a strong accent, so I decided to end the conversation and hang up!

I picked up the phone, although typically I’d just hang up and block the number as soon as I hear their absurdly scripted drivel in poorly articulated English. However, today I decided to endure the INEVITABLE ON-SLOT OF NONSENSICAL CHIT-CHAT (quite fittingly named, considering the moment you pose a question, they just raise their volume and pay no heed whatsoever). The chap on the line claimed he’d like to put forth three questions-first, he rattled off my address and asked for my validation. I inquired as to why he was listing three queries, to which he replied it was to assist with the launch of some new product in the UK. As he thundered over my requests for clarity, I calmly repeated my inquiry of “how will my responses aid in this product launch?” to no avail. He persisted in firing off his questions whilst I reiterated my own. In the end, he hung up on me-how utterly discourteous! What really grinds my gears is that GDPR seems to be utterly toothless. I’ve pleaded countless times for my personal data to be erased, and each time I ask about the source of my contact details, the person on the other end simply disconnects. Other than blocking these persistent nuisances, is there a way to tackle the problem at its root? I’m very careful with my information and always opt out of everything, so I suspect my details were swiped from a compromised list. It’s just infuriating!

I believe I’ve encountered the very same bloke! He didn’t quite indulge in conversation with me; after my hundredth query, he abruptly ended the call. Quite amusing, really! 😂

I often find myself answering calls that I didn’t intend to, and let me tell you, the moment I mention GDPR, they promptly hang up! It begs the question, what’s the purpose of such legislation if there's no real way to enforce it? It seems a bit pointless, doesn’t it?

I was branded a numpty for not revealing my identity!

They insisted I verify my personal information and then wanted me to respond with a simple yes or no. I repeatedly told them I wasn’t interested, eventually telling them to get lost. It’s absolutely ridiculous! When will these jokers finally give it a rest?

I received a call at the office this morning from a man of Asian descent who addressed me by my actual name. When I politely informed him that I couldn’t chat as I was at work, he responded quite rudely, telling me to go and sort myself out and threw in some choice language as well. Quite shocking, really!

I've received exactly the same nonsense as mentioned previously. I've gone ahead and reported it to Ofcom, and I recommend others do the same to ensure this matter is looked into!
