Amidst my panic, shouting, and tears, I insisted he just cancel the transaction. He then transferred me to a colleague, but eventually, they simply hung up on me. At one point, he patronisingly advised me to calm down, assuring me he could help, while threatening that another £799.00 would be taken if I didn’t comply. After the call ended, I started to question everything. Why would someone needing to cancel an order require my ID? I promptly contacted both my credit and debit card providers, who confirmed that no such amount had been authorised and that it was certainly a scam.
