24/02/24 12:41pm: got a call on my home phone from 0191-828-1997, even though I’m on the TPS and supposedly blocked according to WCM data. The bloke sounded like a proper posh British accent and immediately started blabbering about some government scheme to help with window and door replacements to cut down emissions. Asked if mine were over 10 years old. I just told him to stop calling and that I wasn’t interested. He just hung up after that. Blocked the number using BT’s 1572 service. Absolute SCAM, avoid answering or talking to them!

These numbers are generated online and can be used from anywhere globally, often by scam call centres, especially ones based in India, trying to trick you into thinking they’re calling from the UK. These types of numbers don’t last long and are mostly temporary, mainly used for scams. Plus, when you try to call them back, the line’s usually dead or doesn’t accept any calls at all.
