I've had a couple of calls now, both with a woman’s voice leaving a rather scratchy recorded message. She claims I’m owed some cash from PPI and urges me to ring back. Quite suspicious if you ask me!

Got two calls this morning from some dodgy number. The voice was all fuzzy, claiming to be from a solicitors' office about my PPI. I mean, what PPI? Seems like a total scam to me.

I just had a rather dubious phone call from someone claiming to be Mark Benson, representing the Claims Advisory Group about PPI refunds. Initially, they informed me that I was set to receive a £2,000 cheque, but then they upped the ante to £3,000-on the condition that I purchased a £150 iTunes voucher today. As soon as I started to query this shady proposition and mentioned it seemed fishy, the call abruptly cut off. It’s absolutely shocking how these charlatans exploit those who are vulnerable. Stay vigilant, everyone! Disgraceful behaviour indeed.

I ignored the call since the number was unfamiliar. Later, an automated voice left a message telling me to ring back straight away. Not happening, no way.

I called the number back using 1471 and got through to a man who claimed I was owed £3,500 in PPI compensation. He said I’d need to pay £150 to the government through some kind of payment scheme, which sounded like a postal order or something similar. I told him I found it a bit dodgy since I’d never heard of paying like that before. Then he said if I was suspicious, they’d just leave it and hung up on me. Honestly, it felt pretty fishy. He also asked for my date of birth, which I refused to give until he gave me his, but he just ignored that and moved on.
