Got a random call from: 0191 543 3404 This came less than an hour after another random call from: 01615210186! Both calls showed the caller was leaving a voicemail, but the first one actually left a strange silent message lasting about a minute. This second one didn’t leave anything at all. It said the call was from Sunderland, England - but I’ve got no ties to that area. Pretty sure it was just spam. Didn’t answer, reported it and blocked the number.

BEWARE - These calls about EDF smart meters from lots of Sunderland numbers like 3402, 3403, 3404, 3405, 3406, 3407, 3408, 3482, 3489, 3829 and others are NOT connected to EDF. I do need to send them a reading, but the phone number she called from isn’t the one shown on any of their letters for Tyne & Wear. Could be legit, since meter readings don’t really give away much personal info, unlike bank details which would have made me suspicious. Best thing to do is tell them you’ll send your reading through their official online system or ring one of the numbers on your bills instead.

This ain't a scam, not really sure why folks keep saying that. It’s from EDF’s meter reading team asking for your meter reading. I’m actually late in sending mine, got letters and all, but just kept forgetting and time just slipped past. Got a call from a lady claiming to be with EDF, asking me for my meter reading. I told her I wasn’t happy sharing any details unless she could prove she was legit, then she just ended the call.

Someone claiming to be from EDF called me but never gave their name or asked if I was the account holder. They just jumped right into asking for my meter reading. It felt really dodgy, so I called them out and told them I knew it was a scam before hanging up quickly.

Got a call from 01915433404, some Indian lady from a call centre saying she was calling from EDF asking for meter readings. I said no and they just ended the call.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent from the number 01915433404. She was asking for a Mr ****** and checked twice if it was him, but no one by that name here. I just hung up and blocked them. Definitely a scam.

01915433404 called me, a woman with an accent claiming she was from EDF, my electricity company. She even knew my name. She asked for meter readings to send me a correct bill, but I told her I just got a bill a couple of weeks back. Then she just dropped the call.

Didn’t know the number so just let it ring off. Good thing I did - if that was EDF calling, they wouldn’t have been happy with what I’d have said!

A woman with an accent I couldn’t place called, claiming she was from EDF. She used my name and said she wanted to discuss my energy plan. Then she asked for the first part of my address. I wasn’t convinced she was legit, so I stopped giving her any details. But I’m really puzzled - how did she get hold of my name and phone number in the first place?

Got a call about 4 hours ago. The line was really bad, like it was from another country. The person said she was from EDF and wanted my meter readings. I was having dinner and told her I wasn’t going outside to check the meter but I’d get in touch with EDF tomorrow. She kept pushing, but I stood my ground, and then she just hung up.

Got a call from this number asking for meter readings, but I’d already sent them in online. I asked the caller to confirm the account number and she wouldn’t say, claiming it’s a confidentiality issue! Seriously, how do they even know I’m with EDF and have my phone number if we’re ex-directory? Seems a bit dodgy to me.

Got a call earlier from someone saying they were EDF - they wanted me to up my monthly energy payments - I told them since i pay by direct debit, there was nothing to change! Then the call just dropped!
