They claimed to be from EDF, saying they needed to repair my Smart Meter because supposedly it wasn't sending readings. However, my bill and online account show it's working fine. They knew the last four digits of my account number, but then asked me to confirm personal details like my address, postcode, and last payment for 'security reasons'. I don’t see why that’s needed if they’re planning to send someone to my home. So I told them I’d call EDF directly the next day. If this really is EDF, they should rethink their method because it feels quite suspect.

Somebody claimed to be from EDF about my Smart Meter not working. Asked me to confirm my name, address, postcode, and DOB but I refused and told them to give me my account number or tariff details first. They gave me incorrect last 4 digits, I said it was wrong and then the call just cut off. I really am with EDF and my meter hasnt worked since July but its odd they couldnt get my account info right. Also, they never phoned back.

This number has called me three times over the past few days, twice around noon and once in the early evening. Whenever I pick up, no one says anything, but I can hear background chatter that reminds me of a busy office or call centre. They don’t leave any voicemail and hang up right when the answering machine kicks in.

Looked up reviews here before answering. Been dealing with EDF issues for a year now, my Home Display isnt working and the meters wont link up to the network. But this number is new, I’ve never had calls from it before, and Ive already taken the complaint to the Ombudsman. Decided to block the number anyway.

This number rang once more but went straight to voicemail. I was hoping it was a message from EDF, but all I got was some unclear muttering and what seemed like busy call centre sounds in the background. I've now blocked the number because if EDF had anything important to say, they’d have left a proper message. If this is actually EDF, it must be some part of the company trying to sell something - definitely not a professional department judging by the noise on my voicemail.

Watch out for these calls! Even though the number looks legit and I actually am an EDF customer, I reckon the number could be cloned. I've been rung up four times in just about a day. Weird thing is, they never left a voicemail, which doesn’t seem like something EDF usually does - they always leave messages. When I answered twice, one time there was just silence, and the other time it sounded like some call centre abroad with someone speaking in a heavy accent I couldn’t make out. So, best to be cautious because it could be EDF, or it might be imposters.

So I got a call from someone claiming to be from EDF about my smart meter, and honestly, she was really rude. She kept pushing me to arrange a visit to "fix" my smart meter, which isn’t even having any problems. I just ended up hanging up. Afterwards, I contacted EDF customer support online, and they told me they hadn’t made any such calls and confirmed my smart meter is perfectly fine. Proper cheeky that.
