Over the past fortnight, I've received a couple of phone calls from this number, both claiming to be from my energy supplier regarding an alleged unpaid bill. Thankfully, I refrained from divulging any personal details to the individual on the line, and when I pressed them for more information today, they abruptly disconnected the call. To avoid any future hassle, I think it’s best to directly ring up my energy company to verify any strange calls I receive. It does baffle me how these fraudsters manage to obtain one's phone number and have insight into who their energy provider is. That’s definitely something I plan to discuss with my provider next time I get the chance.

0191 426 5605 has been ringing me on my mobile quite a few times over the last few weeks, roughly once or twice a week. I don’t recognise the number at all, and I’m generally quite wary about answering calls from unknown numbers. Normally I can tell if a number belongs to a company, but this one seems suspicious. What really concerns me is that this caller apparently knows people’s names and is aware, like me, that they are or have been EDF customers. Could it be a current or former employee who’s somehow got hold of customer info and might be trying to scam or commit fraud???

Got a call from someone claiming to be from EDF, saying there was an issue with my payment plan but i'm sure there wasnt. They asked for my personal info for "security reasons" but i refused to give it. Then, the person said they couldnt help me without those details. Seemed really dodgy to me. In the end, they just hung up when i said no.

He was ready to pay that same day and almost gave her his bank info, but when he asked about the amount owed, she said a figure double the real one. He immediately got suspicious and ended the call.
