Some woman claimed to be from EDF. But since I’m on a fixed plan, I only send in my meter readings in June and December, plus Morrison Data Services already did a reading recently. I told her straight up she was a scammer and then she quickly said she didn’t need my readings because I was at work and couldn’t give them! I wasn’t gonna share them anyway. Why do people have to be like this? It really annoys me. There’s always someone trying to take advantage. I’ve blocked the number now and will wait for EDF to get in touch via email like they usually do.

I relayed my meter reading and verified my address, but was a bit on edge until I hung up. Afterwards, I had a look at my EDF online profile, and lo and behold, my meter reading was updated with the figure I had just provided, so it appears to be above board. That said, EDF really ought to reconsider their call centre methods for scenarios like this. It's not the first instance where I've been approached by an overzealous representative, insisting we needed to "resolve this immediately," requesting information that they ought to possess already, all delivered in a pronounced West African accent. It's not exactly best practice to ask customers for their address or other personal details on an incoming call.

Got a call from 01914265606 yesterday, and the lady on the phone claimed she was calling from EDF asking for a meter reading. I told her I usually do my readings myself and manage the account online. She then said that wasn’t an option or something. The whole thing felt a bit off, so I cut the call short and said I’d get in touch with EDF directly. The woman sounded like she had an Australian accent.

This has all the signs of a scam, asking for meter readings and all. They seemed to have loads of stuff about EDF accounts too, which worried me. Someone said they were from EDF needing meter readings, but I already sent mine through the app a couple weeks ago. She insisted on a newer reading and wanted to stay on the phone while I read it out. I told her I wasn’t in at the moment. She said she’d call back, so I just said I’d use the app instead. This seems to be an authentic EDF number, and it could well be an actual call from EDF. But the person on the line (sounded like an Indian call centre?) didn’t come across as very professional, beginning with “Hello, how are you today.” They came off as one of those usual scam calls, so I didn’t bother responding and have no clue what the call was for. If it really was EDF asking for meter readings, maybe they should rethink how they reach out to customers - using the preferred method instead of some sketchy cold call like this.

Somebody said they were from EDF asking for a meter reading. Funny thing, an actual EDF person came by to read our meter today, so we asked why they needed another reading. The caller was really pushy, so I just hung up. Our meter is outside and they usually read it themselves. Plus, we've had loads of missed calls from that same number. I looked it up here to see if it was legit. The woman sounded quite calm and believable, but had an accent. Don't fall for it! I’m pretty sure it's an energy scam.

A bloke with an Indian accent phoned claiming to be from EDF, asking for meter readings. I’d already submitted them online but he said they needed to verify the info. He even knew the street where I live and asked me to confirm the house number and postcode. Felt a bit thrown off. I gave him the details, then the call just cut off. Seems like he’s got quite a bit of info already and is just trying to piece everything together. Proper annoying waste of time.

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent asking for the last tenant’s meter reading. I told them I can’t do it right now and they said they’d call back tomorrow. Someone called saying they were from EDF asking for a meter reading. It didn’t seem right at all. They wanted me to give the reading over the phone, which is not what they usually ask for as it’s done online. When I asked why it was different this time, they got quite aggressive. They kept insisting on calling me back to get the reading instead of me putting it on the website myself. In the end, I just ended the call.
