Received a call from someone saying they were with Energy Prices Direct Ltd. They asked to provide bank details and seemed clueless when I asked about what 'admin' referred to. I can’t shake the feeling that this might be some sort of scam, as it’s quite uncommon for an ordinary person to be so forward with such intrusive inquiries!

Got six calls from 10:12 to 11:20, five were from blocked numbers and the last one came from 01905-570548 at 10:15. I didn't answer any, so the calls went to voicemail but the caller hung up straight away every time, except the final call at 11:20 where I heard a muffled voice muttering something that seemed like some sort of swear word.

She said she was with Total Gas and Power, but when I looked into it, the supposed 'deal' had a standing charge over the year that cost way more than what we pay now for the entire bill. Felt more like a rip-off if not a proper scam.

Got a call from this number sayin they could cut down VAT on our village hall's energy charges. They even said a trustee gave them my info. When I told them I’m not the treasurer anymore, the woman asked for who the current treasurer is, but I refused and hung up.

Got a call from an energy broker saying they were representing the suppliers for our local church. 1) they said we’d chatted before, which was a lie 2) rang my private mobile, even though only the church email is public ([email protected]) 3) refused to send any paperwork by post, blaming the pandemic for slow mail delivery (that made no sense) 4) insisted on getting my email, probably to send spam 5) kept pushing me to confirm a fixed supply deal, but that’s for the church elders to sort. Anyway, sounds like they’re maybe fishing info from some local charity site, trying to offer URGENT 🙈 FREE VOLUNTEER help about gas and electric suppliers. I got calls from Easy to Switch on a couple of different numbers. When I picked up, it was an Indian guy who was really polite and friendly. He said their firm is hired to contact businesses and charities about changing their energy providers. Apparently, they've got more than a thousand staff working for them.

Got a call from someone calling herself "Roshni" from a company called "Easy to Switch Utilities". She asked about the church's utility contracts (I manage those at the church). Said they specialise in helping charities save on energy bills. We’d just renewed our contracts so not sure how far it would’ve gone, and can’t say if it was legit or not, but I’d be wary. Definitely an unexpected call.
