I received a call from a gentleman speaking with an accent that wasn't local, claiming to be from Virgin Media. He mentioned something about my internet speed and requested that I fire up my laptop so they could assess the issue. This morning at about 8.43, I received a call from this number. When I picked up, a lady asked to speak to my dad. I told her he doesn't live here and he's passed away. Then she asked if she could talk to my mum instead. I explained that she doesn't live here either and she's also passed on (both my parents have actually died, just so you know). After that, I just said goodbye and ended the call. Not sure what company she was with since I never asked.

It was a woman with an Asian accent who sounded like she'd been drinking, even singing while I explained the situation, then she just hung up. Properly annoyed. Totally livid.

This morning at precisely 08:43, I received a rather intrusive phone call from a woman inquiring about Mr Xxxxx, my late father. I informed her politely that my father had passed away and no longer resided at this address. Undeterred, she then requested to speak to Mrs Xxxxx, my mother. I had to regretfully let her know that, tragically, she too had departed from this world (for the record, I’m not wishing ill upon my parents, they are truly gone). Frustrated, I concluded our brief exchange with a curt “Goodbye!” and ended the call. It irked me greatly for two reasons: firstly, she never aimed to speak with me directly, and secondly, we are ex-directory and registered with the TPS Do Not Call list.

Rather peculiar phone call earlier - a woman informed me that I’d been randomly picked to receive a discount card that promised up to 50% off at supermarkets, eateries, and travel expenses, valid for an entire year. Oddly, she already possessed my name, address, phone number, and postcode. I couldn’t help but mention that it all sounded too good to be true, and then she handed me over to her so-called senior supervisor, who repeated the same spiel. He then claimed that the card was on its way and that I would be contacted again shortly. Honestly, it seems rather dubious to me, but I suppose time will tell. They assured me that they wouldn’t be asking for cash or banking information, but we shall see, won’t we?

I received a phone call from a woman who had quite a pronounced accent, possibly Indian. She introduced herself as part of the Post Code Lottery team, insisting that my area had won a Gift Card applicable at numerous retailers. She proceeded to ask me to pinpoint my age bracket-whether I was in my 20s, 30s, 40s, or 50s. When I probed her about the necessity of this information, her vague answer was simply, “It’s needed for sending you the Gift Card…” After I declined to state my age, she abruptly said they couldn't assist me further, and then the line went dead.
