Today, on 12th December 2017 at 9:26 am, we received a call from an unfamiliar number. A gentleman, who spoke rapidly with a noticeable foreign accent, claimed to be addressing the issue of nuisance phone calls. He offered us a solution to combat these disturbing calls. Although he emphatically stated that he had no intention of selling us anything, it was surprising that he possessed information such as our personal names, address and debit card expiry date. He requested us to confirm if we used this method to pay for our telephone line. Sensing something fishy, we promptly ended the call.

Got a call today around 12:39 from a man with an Asian accent who said he was from BT. When I asked why he was calling since I’m not a BT customer, he just ended the call. I used to be with BT and once had to call them about a fault; the agent, who sounded Indian, was eager to get my mobile to send confirmation of an engineer’s visit. Never received the text, and no engineer showed up. After that, I started getting flooded with scam calls. I complained to BT, but they wouldn’t take any blame. I’ve switched to PlusNet now and wouldn’t go near BT again with a ten foot pole.

I received a phone call this morning around 10:15. The person on the other end claimed to be from BT and told me that someone in California was monitoring my internet activity, including my passwords, and had already accessed all of my data. They insisted that I go online and follow their instructions to resolve the issue. However, I politely declined their offer, telling them I would contact BT directly to address the matter. To my surprise, they quickly ended the call when I mentioned this. It's worth noting that the caller had an Asian accent and the background noise did not seem typical of a professional call center environment.

I had a go at answering but my phone’s call blocker stopped it straight away. The area code shows it’s a Truro Cornwall number. Reading the other comments, it's clear this needs to be reported to Action Fraud, the regulator, BT and Devon & Cornwall Police. I reckon the more of us who stand up and even inform our MPs, the better chance we have of stopping this. Feels terrible for those who aren’t as aware or for vulnerable elderly folks who might get fooled.

Spoke with a chap called "Kevin" from "BT Telecom" earlier, who was keen to find out how I was doing. Bit odd, as "Kevin" sounded like he had a strong Indian accent? Maybe it was his first day, cos there was loads of noise and people chatting behind him. The call quality was rubbish too, especially when 1471 showed "Kevin" was supposedly calling from just round the corner in Truro. Got a call from an Asian lady using my last name, which was a bit weird. She said she was from BT and it was regarding my internet. Got a call this morning around 10:40 from an Asian bloke saying he's with BT security. He tried to convince me to install TeamViewer on my computer, saying that someone else was using my IP address.
