I've gotten calls on various phones from people claiming to be HMRC. Some times it's a real person you talk to, other times like this one, it's just a recorded voice. The message was exactly like the one mentioned earlier. After all the scary warnings, they finished with a friendly "take care!!!" bit. Seriously, does HMRC really leave messages like that? It made me chuckle, but I just hope no one gets fooled by these dodgy calls.

Had a really intimidating ring from HMRC, they said I had to get in touch with a Dennis Gray or I'd be up against legal trouble and criminal charges! Proper frightening stuff!

Got a call from a bloke with a strong accent claiming he was from HMRC. He started asking for all sorts of personal info, even stuff about my solicitor, telling me there’s some fraud case underway against me. Total scam, don’t fall for it!

Loads of scam callers claiming to be from HMRC keep ringing me from all sorts of numbers. They just won't stop! Just a heads up, HMRC would never leave a voicemail like that, so don't bother calling them back.

Got this creepy robot message telling me to get in touch with some officer Dennis Gray right away or I'd be hit with criminal charges. Seriously, what a joke. Don’t waste your time, these nutters. I’ve blocked the number for good.

Got a call from someone pretending to be HMRC, so I called them back just to check. They started asking about my solicitor’s address and mentioned they could give me a free government one instead. Didn’t trust it at all, so I just blocked the number.

Got a really scary call from some automated voice claiming to be HMRC, telling me to ring back straight away as it was "urgent". They said I either needed to call them or get my solicitor on the phone. The voice warned that if I ignored it, legal trouble could be on its way... I can’t remember the exact wording - it was way nastier than what I’m writing here, but I don’t want to put words in their mouth. I’ve had scam calls like this before and usually just shrug them off. This time, I did too, but I know it could frighten people who aren’t as clued-up. Honestly, I nearly wanted to ring them back and give them a piece of my mind, but I guess that’s how they trap people into paying over the phone by making it seem legit. Needless to say, I’ve blocked the number now.
