Yesterday I got a few calls from a young woman, like five times in a row. She said she was from my phone company and even knew my full name. She kept saying I had to give her my bank card details to update some TPS thing. Honestly, I was quite thrown and told her I didn’t quite get what she was asking before hanging up. But she kept calling back, pushing me for the info. In the end, I just ignored the calls and after I rang BT and reported the number, they promised to block it. They’re so good at what they do, unfortunately, preying on older folks like this is just wrong.

Yesterday they rang me up 8 times, couldn't believe it!

So earlier someone rang me claiming to be from BT doing some sort of marketing, but she slipped up by telling me when my card is due to expire. When I refused to share my security code, she got really angry. I ended the call, but then she phoned back and started shouting down the phone. I've now got in touch with both BT and my bank to let them know what happened.

We've been getting calls from this number over and over, even though we've asked them to stop. Most of the time, no one talks when you pick up. When they do speak, they just carry on with their spiel and don't listen to what you say. The last person I spoke to didn’t take me seriously when I told them to take us off their calling list. Their English wasn’t great, but I think they claimed they weren’t trying to sell anything, then suddenly asked if we got telemarketing calls. Very strange.

Got a call from a bloke with a foreign accent claiming to be from the telephone preference service. He was pushing me to give him my debit card details and didn’t take no for an answer. I ended the call, but he phoned straight back, asking why I’d cut him off. He kept on and on, even tried to scare me by saying I’d get loads of unwanted calls from tomorrow if I didn’t hand over the info. He said he was calling from West London. I just hung up again.

Honestly, the TPS is a complete joke, about as useful as a teabag in a cup of hot water that’s gone cold! The scammers and pest callers out there just don’t bother checking if you’re signed up to the list. You really think these crooks would waste their time? First he said his name was Ian, then yesterday it was Bruce, and before that, it was John - all claiming they’re from the telephone preference service. I told him flat out he’s just a scammer and the only good thing is, while he's wasting time on me, he’s not fooling anyone else. Then I ask him how the weather’s up in Scotland, and that’s when he clicks off, not keen on chatting anymore. But I know he’ll ring back, and I’ll ask him the same again.
