Got a call from a woman claiming to be from Northern Power Grid. She said there was something wrong with our meter and it was showing weird readings. She even mentioned our address and wanted info from our electricity bill. I stopped talking and hung up straight away.

Some guy rang me saying he was from 'Western Power' and said there's a problem with our meter so they needed to come and change it. I told him, kinda fibbing, that our boss had spoken to the electric company just the day before to update meter readings and they never mentioned anything like that. When I asked where he’d got this ‘problem’ info from, he said it was from their server, so I said maybe the problem's actually on their side. He then said sorry and ended the call. Got a scammer apologising - win for me!

Got a call from a lady with an Asian accent claiming she was from Western Power. She said there was something odd with my meter readings and insisted on sending an engineer round. She also asked lots of questions about our electricity supply but didn’t even know who she was supposedly calling. I told her she should already have that info. We’re not customers of that company and don’t even have a smart meter. Still couldn’t shake her off, so had to just hang up. They then called me back three more times all within a few minutes.

Absolutely a scam. The guy claimed to be from UK Power Networks and said they had to change our meter to a smart domestic one. Problem is, we're an industrial site with much bigger power needs, not a regular home. He just wouldn’t accept no and kept phoning us back like mad after we ended the call - must have called at least ten times. Proper dodgy.

Got a call from a woman named Chantelle, sounded Asian, telling me my electric meter was messing up the National Grid and could start a fire. She said they'd send an engineer over to sort it out, and I guess it's best if they come quickly. But my neighbour warned me it might be a scam, so I’m keeping an eye on it.

Just got a call from this lot and it was exactly like what the person above mentioned. Lucky I decided to Google the number during the call. They tried ringing me back straight away, so I wasn’t polite - basically told them to shove off! This is definitely a scam, don’t hand over any details to them!

Got a call from someone named Anna, sounded really asian-accented (not saying asian people can't be Anna but it was a bit off), claiming to be from Western Power. Said they needed to send someone round to swap my meter. I tried to ask a few questions but she just kept pushing for my electricity account info. I told her I’d hang up and call Western Power myself. When I did, they had no clue about any visit. Looks like a classic phishing scam, so don’t give them any details!

Got a call from some automated voice first, then this woman saying her name was Rachel, sounded Asian. She said our internet was about to get cut off in 24 hours unless we sorted out some fault. I asked her which provider she was talking about, and she said BT was the problem. When I told her that wasn’t right, she just ended the call. Pretty usual scam stuff.
