On Wednesday, I received multiple calls from this number, around five times, until I finally decided to pick up. To my surprise, it turned out to be a voice-activated system. I greeted it with a "hello," and a pre-recorded message informed me that I needed to ring a specific number to assert my non-involvement in whatever they were blabbering on about. I refused to do that, and then an overseas voice piped up, threatening to sever my internet and phone connection. When I questioned her about it, she promptly hung up. Thankfully, I wasn’t charged anything for this nonsense, but I do worry that someone more vulnerable might fall for such intimidating tactics.
