Some bloke rang me pretending to be from o2 claiming I could get 30% off. He told me I'd get two texts and one would have a 6-digit code I was meant to share with him. I received a couple of calls from this number, so I decided to pick up. The caller claimed to be from O2 and mentioned that I could enjoy a delightful 30% discount each month for a whole year. All they required was for me to keep an eye out for two text messages. The first one was supposed to be a fraud alert, which they insisted I should disregard, and the second, a text containing a six-digit code that I’d need to relay back to them. It all seemed rather dodgy to me, and I’m glad I didn’t bite the bait!

This number called me a couple of times so I picked up. They claimed to be from O2 and said I could get a 30% discount every month for a year. They told me to wait for two texts - the first would be a fraud alert which I should just ignore, and the second would have a 6-digit code that I’m supposed to read back to them. Of course, I didn’t share any code with them.

This person called me with a thick accent from somewhere in India, saying they were from O2 and had a deal for me. I knew straight away it was a scam since I already have a contract with O2, plus he said he was in London but the number showed up from the West Highlands! I told him he’s rubbish at this and maybe he should try doing something proper instead.

This is definitely a dodgy call centre trying to hack into your o2 account. I hung up with them for like half an hour just to mess around and waste their time. Keep chatting nonsense and they’ll just keep yapping rubbish, ignoring whatever you actually say. Feed them made-up numbers that aren’t real. Drag it out. If they’re stuck on you, they’re not out there scamming someone who's more vulnerable.

It’s worrying they’ve got hold of my name, address, and postcode. I told the woman I’d be reporting her to the police and she just ended the call. Surely it’s about time something was done to stop these calls, particularly to protect vulnerable people.
