Although the call originates from different landline numbers, the message remains identical each time. The first time I answered, I found myself connected to what sounded like an Indian call centre. The woman on the line insisted that my computer had been compromised, urging me to switch it on and follow her instructions, all while suggesting that a new hub would be dispatched to me. When I started to question her, she passed me on to another chap who attempted the same tactic. I refused, and he hung up rather abruptly. I reached out to BT for clarification, and they confirmed it was a scam. Now, I'm inundated with at least one call a day, so I've started jotting down the phone numbers.
