Got a call from some bloke with an Asian accent, pretending to be from TalkTalk. He rang my mum and told her there was a virus on our computer, then told her to visit a website and download some sketchy software. I’m so worn out with these constant calls, it’s driving me mad. I’ve even told the police but they said there’s nothing they can do since the calls are automated. Honestly, I never imagined I’d get caught up in this, it’s just left me completely stunned!!!

Reporting this to TalkTalk or blocking the number is useless because these scammers just use some kind of software to create random UK numbers. The number you see isn’t even the real one they’re calling from.

Definitely not TalkTalk, even though they claimed there was an issue with my router or internet. When I asked for their contact number, they just hung up on me. I later dialled 1471 and recognised this annoying number. I’m planning to block it through TalkTalk’s website. These calls happen two or three times daily, sometimes from different numbers. Such scams really need to be put to an end. Hope no one gets caught out by it.

I got in touch with Talk Talk and they said they had no clue about the call. They mentioned they’d forward the number for further checking, though I’m not too sure what that’s supposed to achieve.

I keep getting loads of calls from 01818894556, they keep saying they’re from TalkTalk. I get about 10 of these a day, and every time I say I don’t have a Pic laptop, the call just cuts off. They mention something about my router, but I tell them I’m not with TalkTalk and then the phone just dies on me. They start ringing early morning and keep going till almost midnight. Pretty much the same thing all day. Four calls from some call centre in Asia, trying to pass off as TalkTalk support. They kept saying my router's causing viruses on my computer and offered a replacement within two days. Said they need to fix the virus problem while the new router’s arriving and asked me to stay by my computer and log in. Total scam, as usual.

I've had this number ring me about five times today! Some lads with Asian accents calling themselves with typical British names, like it's meant to sound legit. They say they're from TalkTalk, but it's obvious it's a scam. When I called them out, they just hung up - well, except one guy, 'Jordan', who actually laughed at me before I ended the call. So, I started messing about with a silly voice and just played along until the caller seemed to lose patience and ended the call. I tried to humour him, but he got proper annoyed, called me "too slow" and just ended the call. Was curious to see if the scam was about installing ransomware or pushing me into buying some pricey security software with a promise of a refund later, but Edward (yeah, sure) was just way too impatient for that.

But today, I managed to pick up and it was a guy with an Indian accent saying he was from Talktalk, telling me there was a fault with my router. Seems like all the people getting these calls are Talktalk customers, so maybe the caller’s got hold of our info from that hack they had a few weeks back.

This morning at about 11.20, my phone buzzed with a call from this number. A guy with a really thick Asian accent said something that was impossible to understand. When I didn’t answer right away, he suddenly yelled, “YOU TALK TO ME!!!” which completely shocked me. I just said, “What?” and then he immediately hung up. Later on, at 12.31, the same number called again. I kept saying “Hello?” but there was nothing on the other end, so I ended the call. Then at 3.23 pm, the phone rang once more from this number. Knowing it was them, I just let it ring and ignored it. I’ve been on the TPS list for years, so these annoying calls shouldn’t be happening. From what I understand, TPS can’t act unless the caller gives a company name, which I never got. I don’t know who’s behind these calls, but I’ve blocked the number now and hope they stop bothering me.

Had the exact same issue with 01818894556. I rang my phone company (mine’s TalkTalk) and they told me they know about these scam calls and are working on fixing it. Don’t share any of your info and definitely avoid the website they suggest for fixing broadband speed problems - looks dodgy. Instead, get in touch with your provider directly, they can help block the last call number.

Had another ring from this lot today, saying they're BT, which is complete rubbish. Since this is a UK number, OFCOM really ought to tell the phone provider to disconnect it straight away. The company that handed out this number for dodgy use should face a hefty fine. I got a call from someone claiming to be with BT, saying there was a problem with my router. Thing is, I don’t even use a BT router! Sounds like a scam to me. The number was definitely a UK one - honestly, OFCOM needs to step in and block these calls.

This number 0191 889 4556 has called me three times now today. When I answered, I asked who they wanted, and they said the account holder. I told them if they were really from BT, they’d know the name, but then they just cut the call off. Bit suspicious, if you ask me.

This guy said his name was Jason and claimed there was an issue with BT, telling me to switch on my computer. I told him I wasn’t convinced and he told me to just hang up the phone. Definitely a scammer with a UK number, sounded like he had an Indian or Asian accent.

I got a call from a UK number that sounded dodgy, with the people pretending to be from BT. I reckon they're trying to pull a scam or something. Considering they're using the number against the rules of the service, it really ought to be blocked right away.

Got a call around 3.30pm from this number. The person said they were from BT and claimed there was an issue with a computer linked to my IP. They spoke with a heavy Asian accent and wanted me to open some software. I declined and just ended the call straight away. I've contacted BT to let them know about it.

This number called me twice around 4.15pm but there was no voice when I answered. When I tried ringing back, it said the number couldn’t be reached. Bit odd especially since our BT broadband has been giving us trouble lately.

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent claiming she was from BT. She said they'd been watching our router and found viruses, saying we must sort it out. I told her she'd dialled the police station by mistake, and she just ended the call.

Just after midday, I got a call from someone claiming to be with BT. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch the bloke’s name. I get so many random calls that I’m usually wary as soon as the phone rings since I’ve never shared my number with anyone. He told me my router was downloading harmful stuff that’d mess up my computer and insisted I follow his steps to stop it. Naturally, that made me skeptical, so I asked for my name. Right then, he hung up. If he was really from BT, he’d have known my name straight away, but instead, he just cut the call. The number that called was 0181 889 4556.

Just like a few others have said, some bloke with an Asian accent called claiming to be from some international company, saying our computer was picking up viruses. I told him I wouldn’t be messing with the computer as the engineer’s due soon, and then he just hung up on me!

I’ve been getting loads of calls from these numbers recently. If I’m not rushed, I like to mess with them for a bit. When they reach the bit where they say “click the download button” or “allow access”, I play along and then say I’ve opened a new webpage and ask if they want the address. They usually reply “yes please”. So I slowly spell out something like “[#]do you honestly think I’d be stupid dot com”. It’s hilarious because they almost always hang up right after that! :o))

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent claiming to be from BT internet. He said there were complaints about a fault and that I had to turn on my computer so he could sort it out. I asked him to give me a phone number so I could ring him back, but he refused and said he’d call me later, asking what time would be good to phone me instead. When I asked for a number once more, he just hung up. The number showed up when I dialled 1471 - definitely sounded like a scam to me.

Got a ring from this number earlier, they claimed I was due a new router the next day. Then suddenly said they had to check my lines as my devices were full of viruses. The bloke sounded Asian, but I wasn’t having any of it - hung up straight away and let BT know about the dodgy call.

This number rang me earlier today, first time ever. Got loads of calls last week off 0181 889 4554, all sounding the same - saying they’re from BT. When I asked if we had BT phone or internet, my partner pointed out they’d already know if they were legit. They got a bit lost there and I just ended the call.

This number has called me 5 times today alone. It's the same sort of scam other people are talking about in the comments. Earlier in the week, Monday to be exact, I got calls from 01818894554 and then on Tuesday from 0181889455. I blocked both of them, but clearly they just switch to different numbers to keep bothering me. It's really getting on my nerves!

i’ve been getting loads of calls everyday recently, around 4 to 6 each day. whenever i pick up, the person either just chuckles or says something i can’t make out then quickly hangs up. today, i actually spoke to a man with an asian accent who claimed he was calling from BT. he told me my router was involved in internet fraud and asked me to get on my computer so he could help protect me. it sounded dodgy, so i told him i’d ring him back and asked for his number. he agreed but then abruptly ended the call. it’s definitely a scam.

Over the past couple days, I've gotten over 10 calls saying there's a problem with my BT router. The person had an Indian accent at first, but switched to an American one when I questioned them. On the last call, they didn't even try speaking English properly. Quite annoying!

I think this was the second time they called me within about 30 minutes, but i didn’t note down the first number. The guy said something about being from the ‘tech support team at BT’ and mentioned a fault with my router. I told him we don’t actually have BT internet, so he asked which provider we go with. When I asked why he needed that info, he just kept asking again. Eventually, i told him we use AOL, and after a tired sounding sigh, he just ended the call!
