8 yearsI received a call from an Indian call centre insisting they were from the TalkTalk technical team. They informed me that my line had supposedly been compromised! Just another typical scam, honestly.TalkTalk8 yearsA bloke with an Asian accent rang my elderly mum, pretending to be from TalkTalk. He told her that there was a virus lurking on our computer and urged her to visit a certain website to download a suspicious programme. It's quite clear that this “programme” is nothing more than a ruse to install a real virus and pilfer her credit card details. Just be cautious, everyone!TalkTalk10 yearsI’m absolutely knackered from the incessant ringing of my phone. It’s causing a right old headache, and I've even had to involve the police, but they’ve informed me there’s not a lot they can do since the calls are automated. It’s beyond belief that I’m finding myself in this situation; I’m completely taken aback!10 yearsReporting this to TalkTalk or blocking the number is useless because these scammers just use some kind of software to create random UK numbers. The number you see isn’t even the real one they’re calling from.TalkTalk10 yearsDefinitely not TalkTalk, even though they claimed there was an issue with my router or internet. When I asked for their contact number, they just hung up on me. I later dialled 1471 and recognised this annoying number. I’m planning to block it through TalkTalk’s website. These calls happen two or three times daily, sometimes from different numbers. Such scams really need to be put to an end. Hope no one gets caught out by it.TalkTalk10 yearsI got in touch with Talk Talk and they said they had no clue about the call. They mentioned they’d forward the number for further checking, though I’m not too sure what that’s supposed to achieve.10 yearsI keep getting loads of calls from 01818894556, they keep saying they’re from TalkTalk. I get about 10 of these a day, and every time I say I don’t have a Pic laptop, the call just cuts off. They mention something about my router, but I tell them I’m not with TalkTalk and then the phone just dies on me. They start ringing early morning and keep going till almost midnight. Really fed up with this, these scam callers should be shut down. Properly annoyed TalkTalk customer here!TalkTalk10 yearsPretty much the same thing all day. Four calls from some call centre in Asia, trying to pass off as TalkTalk support. They kept saying my router's causing viruses on my computer and offered a replacement within two days. Said they need to fix the virus problem while the new router’s arriving and asked me to stay by my computer and log in. Total scam, as usual.TalkTalk Customer Services10 yearsgot 6 calls from the same number, each time noone spoke and then the line just dropped on them self, really odd behaviour, not sure what the point was.10 yearsKindly consider blocking this number; it appears to be a scam.10 yearsMUM'S GOT THESE ANNOYING ITCHY BUMPS ON HER HEAD!!!!!!10 yearsI got a call from a woman with an Asian accent claiming to be from TalkTalk saying my router had issues. I told her to buzz off right away because I knew it was a scam.TalkTalk10 yearsGot a call from someone claiming to be TalkTalk, just like loads of others have said. I ended up chuckling at them and they quickly ended the call. It's the third time I've had one of these dodgy calls in the last week alone. Surely there’s some method to stop these scammers once and for all.TalkTalk10 yearsI've had this number ring me about five times today! Some lads with Asian accents calling themselves with typical British names, like it's meant to sound legit. They say they're from TalkTalk, but it's obvious it's a scam. When I called them out, they just hung up - well, except one guy, 'Jordan', who actually laughed at me before I ended the call. Honestly, when will the government actually step in and stop this kind of harassment? It’s just outrageous.TalkTalkJordan10 yearsJust like all those other email scammers, total rip off. I've been telling them for months to buzz off, even reported the number to Talk Talk. They said they’d block it, but honestly, we all know Talk Talk aren’t exactly the best at sorting these things out either. Still getting calls, so it’s all a bit pointless really.Talk Talk10 yearsThis number has rung me a few times but always just hangs up whether I pick up or the answerphone does. But today they actually spoke! Some woman with a strong foreign accent said she was from TalkTalk, saying there was an issue with my router. When I questioned her, she got really annoyed and started being quite rude. Then she rang me again straight away just to carry on shouting and swearing. Honestly, steer clear of these lot!TalkTalk10 yearsI’ve received calls from this number four times already today, and it’s really starting to get on my nerves. I’m finding it hard not to respond with irritation at this point!10 yearsThey keep ringing day after day and honestly, I’m done picking up. It’s gotten way too much. I’ve already reported the number to TalkTalk twice today, but it doesn’t seem like they’re doing anything about it. You’d think they could just block the caller. At this point, I’m fed up and seriously thinking about switching my phone number and maybe even my provider.TalkTalk10 yearsI got a call from TalkTalk saying something about my router not working properly. So, I started messing about with a silly voice and just played along until the caller seemed to lose patience and ended the call. Then, a couple of hours later, they rang back, and I repeated the same thing. It was quite entertaining for a bit, but they cut me off before I could really have a proper laugh with them.TalkTalk10 yearsGot a call from someone claiming to be TalkTalk, they even gave me my account number when I asked! Seriously?! While I kept the caller waiting, I quickly looked up TalkTalk’s official site and, just as I suspected, they would never reveal your account number to confirm who they are. So watch out for this dodgy behaviour!TalkTalk10 yearsSo, a bloke named Edward rang me up yet again after a bit of silence. Said he was with TalkTalk and claimed there was something wrong with my router that I needed to sort out. I tried to humour him, but he got proper annoyed, called me "too slow" and just ended the call. Was curious to see if the scam was about installing ransomware or pushing me into buying some pricey security software with a promise of a refund later, but Edward (yeah, sure) was just way too impatient for that.EdwardTalkTalk10 yearsGot a call from a bloke with a very Asian accent, sounded like he was in some noisy call centre. Claimed to be from TalkTalk and said there was something wrong with my router, that they'd send a new one. Told me to press some weird combo on my keyboard, like the Alt and Windows keys or whatever. When I pointed out that a fraud warning popped up on my screen, he just hung up on me.TalkTalk10 yearsGot a call earlier, all quiet at first like some auto dial thing. I was just about to end it when a guy with an Asian accent came on, said he was from TalkTalk's tech team but I couldn't quite catch his name. I wasn’t in a rush, so I tried to suss out what scam they were running. When I asked him to say his name again, he suddenly cut me off. Seems like a dodgy call to me, but the scammer wasn’t very confident about it at all.TalkTalk10 yearsI keep getting calls from this number claiming to be TalkTalk. The thing is, I'm not a TalkTalk customer, and I really don't appreciate being pestered multiple times throughout the day.TalkTalk10 yearsI've been receiving calls regarding a TalkTalk router, which is rather perplexing as I don’t even use their services. It felt like I was stuck in a never-ending loop, as there was no one on the other end to answer my questions. Quite frustrating, really!10 yearsOver the last few weeks, I've had a bunch of calls from this number. Every time I wasn’t home and as soon as my answerphone picked up, the caller just hung up. But today, I managed to pick up and it was a guy with an Indian accent saying he was from Talktalk, telling me there was a fault with my router. I told him straight up that everything was fine with my router and ended the call. Seems like all the people getting these calls are Talktalk customers, so maybe the caller’s got hold of our info from that hack they had a few weeks back.TalkTalk10 yearsI've been receiving calls from this number multiple times recently. Each time, when I mention that I'll hand the phone over to my mate, who's actually a local copper, they just cut off the line. They keep insisting they're from TalkTalk. Funny, isn't it?10 yearsWhat steps can I take to prevent this caller from reaching me?10 yearsGot a few calls earlier, this bloke kept saying he needed to fix my router because it had viruses, and that he’d take control of my PC. This is the third time he’s rung me today. Definitely a scam.10 yearsThey've rang me three times already today which is super frustrating while I'm working from my flat. I've gone ahead and filed a complaint with the ICO via this link: https://ico.org.uk/concerns/marketing/ Would be great if more people reported them so they might actually get penalised!ICOicoorguk10 yearsI keep receiving daily calls from this number, and today alone, they've rung me twice claiming to be from TalkTalk. Does anyone know how I can put a stop to these calls? It's becoming quite bothersome!TalkTalk10 yearsI've received numerous calls claiming to be from Talk Talk. More often than not, they hang up as soon as I answer or the moment I say something. It's quite baffling, really!10 yearsTalk Talk really should sort this out. These blokes have got smart and use some kind of program that switches the number you see on your phone. So even if you block one, they just ring you from another number. It's proper annoying.10 yearsAs with many others, this number keeps bugging me, even after I ask them to stop properly. No matter how often I say I'm not interested, they just keep ignoring me. Lately, I get around six calls every single day, all claiming they're from TalkTalk.TalkTalk10 yearsPublic phone systems usually show Caller ID details like the caller's number and sometimes their name. But with certain tech, particularly in VoIP services, people can fake this info and make it look like they're calling from a different number or person. When calls pass through different network gateways, this false info gets passed along too. Because spoofed calls can come from overseas, the legal rules where the call ends might not apply to the person making the call. That makes it harder to stop scams that rely on fake Caller ID info.10 yearsThey've been ringing me a bunch over the past few days - I just hang up every time! Honestly, the amount of calls coming through is getting a bit ridiculous now.10 yearsI've been getting calls from this number around four or five times daily over the past week. It's absolutely relentless and has to be put to an end. But what on earth can be done about it? Any suggestions? Cheers, PD10 yearsGot another call just 20 minutes after the first one, it's honestly so annoying, does anyone know who these folks actually are? What am I supposed to do about this?10 yearsThis number kept ringing me about a dozen times within a few days. I got in touch with Talk Talk, and they assured me they’d block all calls coming from this number for every single one of their users.Talk Talk10 yearsI’ve been bombarded with calls for a fortnight, all about issues with my Talktalk router. I had explicitly requested they drop me an email since they already have my address but, instead of complying, they just hung up. Yet, despite my clear wish to communicate via email, they continue to ring me incessantly. Quite maddening, to say the least!Talktalk10 yearsHad the exact same issue with 01818894556. I rang my phone company (mine’s TalkTalk) and they told me they know about these scam calls and are working on fixing it. Don’t share any of your info and definitely avoid the website they suggest for fixing broadband speed problems - looks dodgy. Instead, get in touch with your provider directly, they can help block the last call number.TalkTalk10 yearsUgh, that's really gross.10 yearsI've been inundated with calls from this number lately. At first, they claimed to be from BT, then switched to Talk Talk. Honestly, I've given up and just hang up now. It's glaringly obvious that this is a scam.BTTalk10 yearsJust like all the others, nothing different here.10 yearsAll day long this number keeps ringing but whenever I pick up, there’s no one on the other end.10 yearsI get loads of calls every day and they always say they're from Talk Talk. I usually just hang up straight away, but they don’t stop ringing me.TalkTalk10 yearsOver the past couple of days, I've received half a dozen calls from folks with Indian accents, both men and women, pretending to be from TalkTalk saying my router had issues. They wanted me to get on my computer but as soon as I said I don’t entertain cold calls, they just cut off. Today, when I told them firmly to quit ringing me, one cheeky caller said, "You don’t want us calling you, love?" then dropped the call. Honestly, it's getting really frustrating now.TalkTalk10 yearsI received a couple of calls from them, both in quite a thick Indian accent. When I requested them to send me an email regarding this "modem issue," promising I’d liaise with my internet service provider's tech team, they abruptly hung up on me. Quite peculiar, isn't it?10 yearsPicked up and nothing but silence. It has called me a couple of times in the last few hours too. I'm just ignoring it from now on. Need to report this as a nuisance call.10 yearsGot a call today, twice actually, from this number. The person sounding like they had an Indian accent said they were calling from Talktalk about an issue with my router. As soon as I mentioned I’d call them back, they hung up straight away.Talktalk10 yearsGot a call from some bloke with an Asian accent claiming he was from Talk Talk, saying there’s funny business with my router. I told him I don’t even have a Talk Talk router, and he just went quiet. Ended up yelling at him a bit before hanging up.10 yearsHad a busy day so far. Got called by them twice in under a couple of hours. Didn’t pick up the second time.10 yearsI've received multiple calls from this number, but it seems to be a spoof. When I try to ring it back, the caller ID is completely unfamiliar. Honestly, it's high time that our telecom providers sorted this out and put measures in place to block these sorts of numbers. They really are an absolute headache and could potentially pose a threat if they're involved in any fraudulent activities.10 yearsGot two calls from the same number today. First time it was a guy with a really thick Asian accent and I could hardly understand a word he was saying. Then about couple of hours later, the same number rang again but this time it was a woman, also sounded Asian, saying she was from TalkTalk. I just ended the call straight away - definitely scammers.10 yearsWow, I got three calls like this today and didn’t pick up once, all thanks to what I found on this site. Honestly, it’s such a lifesaver! Really well done to whoever runs it.10 yearsHad another ring from this lot today, saying they're BT, which is complete rubbish. Since this is a UK number, OFCOM really ought to tell the phone provider to disconnect it straight away. The company that handed out this number for dodgy use should face a hefty fine. There’s got to be records showing who first got this number, and I bet they to know it's being used for scams just like this one.BTUKOFCOM10 yearsGot a call from a bloke who sounded like he had either an Indian or Asian accent, saying he was from TalkTalk. He told me there was an issue with downloads on my computer, but I just ended the call because I’d already received an email from TalkTalk warning about scam calls.TalkTalk10 yearsJust got another call less than a couple of hours apart. First one was a woman with an accent, then a bloke also sounding foreign, both saying they’re from Talk Talk. Sure... I just ended the call straight away.10 yearsToday, we received a call from a gentleman of Asian descent claiming to be from Talk Talk. He mentioned there were issues with our router, which is ironic considering it’s been fine for the past day. He insisted I turn on my laptop, but as I explained that I only possess an iPad, he quickly changed his tune and said they would give us a ring again tomorrow. It’s clear this is nothing but a scam, so please don’t engage with them!10 yearsI just received a phone call claiming to be from BT, insisting I had an issue with my router. The problem is, I don’t even have a BT router! Sounds like a bit of a scam to me, if you ask me. Isn't it about time OFCOM stepped in and had this number shut down?BTOFCOM10 yearsI’ve gone ahead and blocked this number, yet they keep ringing me - I’ve counted at least four attempts today alone! It's not just this one; I’ve got a handful of numbers that just won’t take the hint. Unfortunately, there’s a limit to how many I can block without having to pay for a service that would let me tackle more of these pesky calls. It really would be lovely if the phone companies could roll out some decent software for free instead of capitalising on our frustration.10 yearsGot a call from 01818894556, some Indian woman claiming she was from Talktalk. She told me there was an issue with my router. When I said I’m actually with Sky, she then told me I could get £20 back if I wanted. I said no thanks, and she rudely told me to 'get lost' before hanging up. What a cheek!TalktalkSky10 yearsGot a call from someone claiming to be from TalkTalk, saying my router had issues. When I told them I’d ring TalkTalk myself, they just hung up on me.TalkTalk10 yearsGot a call from BT saying there was an issue with my router. I said I’d call BT myself to sort it out and then they just ended the call. Pretty sure it’s the same scam loads of others mentioned.BT10 yearsEvery time I answer, there's no one there. It's starting to annoy me a bit.10 yearsGot a call from someone claiming to be with BT, saying there was an issue with my router. Thing is, I don’t even have a BT router. Pretty obvious scam to me!BT10 yearsReceived a dodgy call masquerading as TalkTalk, claiming there’s a virus infecting my modem router. Total scam!TalkTalk10 yearsGot a call from someone pretending to be BT, said there was an issue with my router. Thing is, my internet isn't even through BT. Definitely a scam.BT10 yearsI’ve been getting calls from this number too, loads of times. They ring claiming to be from BT saying there’s a fault with your internet router. But when you ask for a call back number, they get rude and just end the call. They try to push you into installing some software on your PC. I’d be very careful if I were you, might not be safe at all.BT10 yearsI received a rather troubling call from an Asian gentleman claiming to be from TalkTalk, asserting that there were issues with my router. I made it clear that I would involve the police to report such a suspicious call, and before I knew it, he abruptly ended the conversation. Quite dodgy behaviour, if you ask me!TalkTalk10 yearsI received a peculiar call from a woman claiming to be from BT, insisting there were some problems with our computer. When I suggested we'd contact her later, she requested a BT number to return the call and then abruptly hung up. I reported the incident to BT, but they seemed completely dismissive about this suspicious activity involving their name; their only response was an offer to sell us a blocking service! Quite frustrating, really!BT10 yearsI recently received a phone call claiming to be from BT, informing me of an issue with my router. The only problem is, I don’t even possess a BT router! Sounds rather dodgy to me. Given that this is a UK number, it would be prudent for OFCOM to intervene and put a stop to such nonsense.BTUKOFCOM10 yearsThis number 0191 889 4556 has called me three times now today. When I answered, I asked who they wanted, and they said the account holder. I told them if they were really from BT, they’d know the name, but then they just cut the call off. Bit suspicious, if you ask me.BT10 yearsThis guy said his name was Jason and claimed there was an issue with BT, telling me to switch on my computer. I told him I wasn’t convinced and he told me to just hang up the phone. Definitely a scammer with a UK number, sounded like he had an Indian or Asian accent.JasonBTUK10 yearsI got a call from a UK number that sounded dodgy, with the people pretending to be from BT. I reckon they're trying to pull a scam or something. Considering they're using the number against the rules of the service, it really ought to be blocked right away.UKBT10 yearsI received a call at precisely 15:30 from this number, purporting to be from BT. They mentioned some issue with a computer linked to my IP address. The caller had a notably strong Asian accent. They requested that I execute a particular programme, but I declined and hung up the phone. I've since reported the incident to BT.BT10 yearsI’ve just had a couple of calls from this number at 4:15 PM. Strangely, no one said anything when I picked up. I attempted to ring them back, but it seems the line is out of order. We’ve been experiencing some issues lately with BT and our broadband connection.BT10 yearsI received a call from an Asian woman claiming to be from BT. She mentioned they’d been keeping an eye on our router and detected some viruses that required immediate attention. I pointed out that she had dialled the police station by mistake, and just like that, she hung up!BT10 yearsI just received a call from this number. An Asian woman claimed to be representing BT regarding my router. I mentioned the line was terribly poor and promptly hung up.BT10 yearsI received a call at precisely 12:13 from a person claiming to represent BT. Regrettably, I didn't catch the chap's name. Due to the sheer volume of unsolicited calls I receive, I invariably become quite wary the moment my landline rings, as I haven't shared my number with anyone. The caller mentioned that my router was downloading something potentially harmful to my computer and instructed me to heed his guidance to avert this issue. Naturally, this raised my suspicions, so I inquired about my name. At that point, the line abruptly went silent. If he were genuinely calling from BT, he would have surely known who I was, yet instead, he hung up. The number that appeared was 0181 889 4556.BT10 yearsI had a similar experience to what others have mentioned. An Asian gentleman claimed to be from an international company, insisting that my computer was infected with viruses. I told him there was no need to worry as our technician was about to arrive. He promptly hung up on me!10 yearsI’ve been getting loads of calls from these numbers recently. If I’m not rushed, I like to mess with them for a bit. When they reach the bit where they say “click the download button” or “allow access”, I play along and then say I’ve opened a new webpage and ask if they want the address. They usually reply “yes please”. So I slowly spell out something like “[#]do you honestly think I’d be stupid dot com”. It’s hilarious because they almost always hang up right after that! :o))10 yearsCuriously, I received three calls from this number today, purporting to be from BT regarding my router issues. Oddly enough, I just received a new router last week. After going through some of the comments here, I decided it was best to hang up.BT10 yearsI received a call from a chap who claimed to be from BT. He mentioned there had been some complaints regarding a supposed issue. He insisted that I needed to switch on my computer for him to sort it out, but when I asked for a callback number, he flatly refused. Instead, he suggested that I should propose a time for him to ring back. I pressed him again for a contact number, but he hung up on me. The number I found after calling 1471 raised all sorts of alarms. Clearly, it was nothing more than a scam attempt.BT10 yearsI received a rather dodgy call from this number earlier today, claiming that a new router was on its way to me tomorrow. They insisted that they had to check my lines first because of multiple viruses they supposedly detected. The caller appeared to be of Asian descent, but I didn't stick around for the whole thing. I ended up hanging up and promptly reporting it to BT.BT10 yearsThis number rang me earlier today, first time ever. Got loads of calls last week off 0181 889 4554, all sounding the same - saying they’re from BT. When I asked if we had BT phone or internet, my partner pointed out they’d already know if they were legit. They got a bit lost there and I just ended the call.BT10 yearsBeen getting calls from 01818894555 all week they keep changing the number every day. Pretty sure it’s a scam. Told them to buzz off!10 yearsGot a call from an Asian guy, and before he even said a word, I just told him to buzz off and hung up. Probably childish, but honestly, it felt kinda good.Asia10 yearsLike others have said, I got several calls from this number today - four in total. Honestly, next time I think I'll just keep them on the line and mess with them for a bit to kill their time.10 yearsI got a call from an Asian lady claiming she worked for BT. She told me there was an issue with my internet router and asked if I was using my laptop or computer. I wasn’t convinced she was legit, so I just ended the call.BT10 yearsThey keep ringing me non stop, saying my computer is infected with a virus and trying to get me to let them in. Honestly, such a nuisance!10 yearsThis number has called me 5 times today alone. It's the same sort of scam other people are talking about in the comments. Earlier in the week, Monday to be exact, I got calls from 01818894554 and then on Tuesday from 0181889455. I blocked both of them, but clearly they just switch to different numbers to keep bothering me. It's really getting on my nerves!10 yearsi’ve been getting loads of calls everyday recently, around 4 to 6 each day. whenever i pick up, the person either just chuckles or says something i can’t make out then quickly hangs up. today, i actually spoke to a man with an asian accent who claimed he was calling from BT. he told me my router was involved in internet fraud and asked me to get on my computer so he could help protect me. it sounded dodgy, so i told him i’d ring him back and asked for his number. he agreed but then abruptly ended the call. it’s definitely a scam.BT10 yearsThey've rung me like four times today already. I’m mixing up my answers just to keep it funny (or at least I reckon it is). Dunno if they’re after some kind of access or just trying to sell some dodgy ‘security’ software, but it’s super annoying. Guess the TPS means nothing these days.10 yearsGot a call from an Asian woman saying she was with BT, claiming my router was throwing loads of errors their way. I told her that was odd since I don’t even have a router, then she just went quiet. The number was 01818894556.10 yearsThey keep calling saying they’re from BT, telling me my router’s messed up and they need to get into my computer. It’s been happening like 5 or 6 times every day for the past few days now. Quite annoying!BT10 yearsOver the past couple days, I've gotten over 10 calls saying there's a problem with my BT router. The person had an Indian accent at first, but switched to an American one when I questioned them. On the last call, they didn't even try speaking English properly. Quite annoying!10 yearsI think this was the second time they called me within about 30 minutes, but i didn’t note down the first number. The guy said something about being from the ‘tech support team at BT’ and mentioned a fault with my router. I told him we don’t actually have BT internet, so he asked which provider we go with. When I asked why he needed that info, he just kept asking again. Eventually, i told him we use AOL, and after a tired sounding sigh, he just ended the call!BTAOL10 yearsThis number has rung me about three times over the past couple of hours, but every time I answer, they just drop the call.10 yearsGlad I'm not the only one getting these calls! Over the past couple of days, I’ve received around 8 calls claiming there was something wrong with my BT router. The voice seems like the same bloke every time. After I tried being a bit chatty, he said his name was Winston Smith. But as soon as I asked him anything, he suddenly hung up. The last time he rang, he actually told me I was boring!Winston SmithSubmit Your Own Report (01818 894556)
