A bloke with an Asian accent rang my elderly mum, pretending to be from TalkTalk. He told her that there was a virus lurking on our computer and urged her to visit a certain website to download a suspicious programme. It's quite clear that this “programme” is nothing more than a ruse to install a real virus and pilfer her credit card details. Just be cautious, everyone!

I’m absolutely knackered from the incessant ringing of my phone. It’s causing a right old headache, and I've even had to involve the police, but they’ve informed me there’s not a lot they can do since the calls are automated. Definitely not TalkTalk, even though they claimed there was an issue with my router or internet. When I asked for their contact number, they just hung up on me. I later dialled 1471 and recognised this annoying number. I’m planning to block it through TalkTalk’s website. These calls happen two or three times daily, sometimes from different numbers. Such scams really need to be put to an end. Hope no one gets caught out by it.

I got in touch with Talk Talk and they said they had no clue about the call. They mentioned they’d forward the number for further checking, though I’m not too sure what that’s supposed to achieve.

I keep getting loads of calls from 01818894556, they keep saying they’re from TalkTalk. I get about 10 of these a day, and every time I say I don’t have a Pic laptop, the call just cuts off. They mention something about my router, but I tell them I’m not with TalkTalk and then the phone just dies on me. They start ringing early morning and keep going till almost midnight. Really fed up with this, these scam callers should be shut down. Properly annoyed TalkTalk customer here!

Pretty much the same thing all day. Four calls from some call centre in Asia, trying to pass off as TalkTalk support. They kept saying my router's causing viruses on my computer and offered a replacement within two days. Said they need to fix the virus problem while the new router’s arriving and asked me to stay by my computer and log in. Total scam, as usual.

I've had this number ring me about five times today! Some lads with Asian accents calling themselves with typical British names, like it's meant to sound legit. They say they're from TalkTalk, but it's obvious it's a scam. When I called them out, they just hung up - well, except one guy, 'Jordan', who actually laughed at me before I ended the call. So, I started messing about with a silly voice and just played along until the caller seemed to lose patience and ended the call. I tried to humour him, but he got proper annoyed, called me "too slow" and just ended the call. Had the exact same issue with 01818894556. I rang my phone company (mine’s TalkTalk) and they told me they know about these scam calls and are working on fixing it. Don’t share any of your info and definitely avoid the website they suggest for fixing broadband speed problems - looks dodgy. Instead, get in touch with your provider directly, they can help block the last call number.

The company that handed out this number for dodgy use should face a hefty fine. It's not just this one; I’ve got a handful of numbers that just won’t take the hint. Unfortunately, there’s a limit to how many I can block without having to pay for a service that would let me tackle more of these pesky calls. I recently received a phone call claiming to be from BT, informing me of an issue with my router. The only problem is, I don’t even possess a BT router! Sounds rather dodgy to me. Given that this is a UK number, it would be prudent for OFCOM to intervene and put a stop to such nonsense.

This number 0191 889 4556 has called me three times now today. When I answered, I asked who they wanted, and they said the account holder. I told them if they were really from BT, they’d know the name, but then they just cut the call off. Bit suspicious, if you ask me.

This guy said his name was Jason and claimed there was an issue with BT, telling me to switch on my computer. I told him I wasn’t convinced and he told me to just hang up the phone. Definitely a scammer with a UK number, sounded like he had an Indian or Asian accent.

I received a call at precisely 15:30 from this number, purporting to be from BT. They mentioned some issue with a computer linked to my IP address. The caller had a notably strong Asian accent. They requested that I execute a particular programme, but I declined and hung up the phone. I've since reported the incident to BT.

I received a call at precisely 12:13 from a person claiming to represent BT. Regrettably, I didn't catch the chap's name. Due to the sheer volume of unsolicited calls I receive, I invariably become quite wary the moment my landline rings, as I haven't shared my number with anyone. The caller mentioned that my router was downloading something potentially harmful to my computer and instructed me to heed his guidance to avert this issue. Naturally, this raised my suspicions, so I inquired about my name. At that point, the line abruptly went silent. If he were genuinely calling from BT, he would have surely known who I was, yet instead, he hung up. The number that appeared was 0181 889 4556.

I had a similar experience to what others have mentioned. An Asian gentleman claimed to be from an international company, insisting that my computer was infected with viruses. I told him there was no need to worry as our technician was about to arrive. He promptly hung up on me!

I’ve been getting loads of calls from these numbers recently. If I’m not rushed, I like to mess with them for a bit. When they reach the bit where they say “click the download button” or “allow access”, I play along and then say I’ve opened a new webpage and ask if they want the address. They usually reply “yes please”. So I slowly spell out something like “[#]do you honestly think I’d be stupid dot com”. It’s hilarious because they almost always hang up right after that! :o))

Curiously, I received three calls from this number today, purporting to be from BT regarding my router issues. Oddly enough, I just received a new router last week. After going through some of the comments here, I decided it was best to hang up.

I received a call from a chap who claimed to be from BT. He mentioned there had been some complaints regarding a supposed issue. He insisted that I needed to switch on my computer for him to sort it out, but when I asked for a callback number, he flatly refused. Instead, he suggested that I should propose a time for him to ring back. I pressed him again for a contact number, but he hung up on me. The number I found after calling 1471 raised all sorts of alarms. Clearly, it was nothing more than a scam attempt.

I received a rather dodgy call from this number earlier today, claiming that a new router was on its way to me tomorrow. They insisted that they had to check my lines first because of multiple viruses they supposedly detected. The caller appeared to be of Asian descent, but I didn't stick around for the whole thing. I ended up hanging up and promptly reporting it to BT.

When I asked if we had BT phone or internet, my partner pointed out they’d already know if they were legit. They got a bit lost there and I just ended the call.

This number has called me 5 times today alone. It's the same sort of scam other people are talking about in the comments. Earlier in the week, Monday to be exact, I got calls from 01818894554 and then on Tuesday from 0181889455. I blocked both of them, but clearly they just switch to different numbers to keep bothering me. It's really getting on my nerves!

i’ve been getting loads of calls everyday recently, around 4 to 6 each day. whenever i pick up, the person either just chuckles or says something i can’t make out then quickly hangs up. today, i actually spoke to a man with an asian accent who claimed he was calling from BT. he told me my router was involved in internet fraud and asked me to get on my computer so he could help protect me. it sounded dodgy, so i told him i’d ring him back and asked for his number. he agreed but then abruptly ended the call. it’s definitely a scam.

Over the past couple days, I've gotten over 10 calls saying there's a problem with my BT router. The person had an Indian accent at first, but switched to an American one when I questioned them. On the last call, they didn't even try speaking English properly. Quite annoying!

I think this was the second time they called me within about 30 minutes, but i didn’t note down the first number. The guy said something about being from the ‘tech support team at BT’ and mentioned a fault with my router. I told him we don’t actually have BT internet, so he asked which provider we go with. When I asked why he needed that info, he just kept asking again. Eventually, i told him we use AOL, and after a tired sounding sigh, he just ended the call!

Glad I'm not the only one getting these calls! Over the past couple of days, I’ve received around 8 calls claiming there was something wrong with my BT router. The voice seems like the same bloke every time. After I tried being a bit chatty, he said his name was Winston Smith. But as soon as I asked him anything, he suddenly hung up. The last time he rang, he actually told me I was boring!
