My elderly mum, who’s 95, got a few calls saying her BT phone line was about to be cut off within a day. Since she’s quite hard of hearing, she didn’t really catch what they were saying. The callers sounded pretty convincing though! I reached out to BT myself and they confirmed it was a scam, just as I suspected. It’s so upsetting to think how worried she must have been, and if she’d heard properly, I’m sure she might’ve felt pressured to pay just to keep her connection.

Got a ring from this number saying they were from the internet fraud team at BT. Thing is, I don’t even use BT broadband! They said some bloke called John Crawl from Holland was hacking my connection, which was just laughable. The guy on the phone sounded Asian and gave his name as James Williams - what a dodgy combo. I just let him ramble on for about 8 minutes before he finally gave up and ended the call. Proper scam artists.

Some bloke calling himself from OFCOM "Tech Support" ringed me up. I wasn't even intrested in what he had to say, heard all that nonsense before. These con artists just read out the same old spiel about your internet being hacked or whatever, then they chuck in a company name at the start, either pulled outta nowhere or from info they've nicked off telcos or social media sites. Had two calls today (23/11/18), first one at about 11:50 from a woman’s robot voice - left a voicemail saying something about internet hacks happening all over the world and to press 1 for BT or 2 if you’re with someone else. Then at 13:50 another call came through but no message this time. Got the same type of call yesterday (22/11/18) too. Obviously didn’t bother pressing any buttons!

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent warning me my internet was about to stop working. He told me to press a number to contact BT.
