Just saw this on Redhawk’s website: Heads up - you might get calls from numbers between 01792 211841 and 01792 211850. Don’t pick up, they’re marketing calls from a company totally unconnected to Redhawk Legal. Apparently, some blogs and forums are wrongly linking these calls to Redhawk, and they’re trying to fix this mix-up. The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau is now involved. If you get a call from any of these numbers, report it to Action Fraud straight away on 0300 123 2040. Thanks for being patient while they sort this out.

They’ve rung me a few times, but whenever I pick up, it’s just silence. I assumed this nonsense was over by now, but it seems UK regulations are pretty toothless when it comes to protecting consumers. Maybe it’s some kind of call diversion scam, although it wouldn’t work on my phone since it’s connected to our company system. These spam calls and phone scams really need to be cracked down on. Honestly, it shouldn’t be that hard to track where they’re coming from. If the calls are originating from abroad, the telecom network in that country ought to be given a short deadline - say a week - to nip it in the bud before all calls from that network get blocked entirely.

I’ve heard that these firms track when a call is picked up just to confirm someone’s on the line, then they just keep badgering you nonstop. My tip is to save the number in your phone under something like PPI and simply give it a miss when it rings. They’ll keep ringing for a bit, but eventually, they might give up - at least if you don’t pick up, they mark the number as inactive and hopefully stop bothering you. I honestly don’t think this hassle will ever end since they’re only aiming to get your money. Opting out? Forget it, that won’t help either, it just shows them a real person is there to annoy.

I got a call from a number linked to SELDOM MARKETING PRIVATE LIMITED. After checking online, I found out it’s a company registered way back in March 1997 in Delhi, but apparently it’s been struck off now. The registered address was on New Rohtak Road, but it seems like they’re no longer active. Just thought I’d share in case anyone else is wondering who’s ringing from that number!

Typical script: "We might ring you again... or not." They tell you to sign up on the TPS list to avoid calls, but they just ignore it and create another company to keep pestering you. Had a quick look through my phone history and this firm has called me at least three times in the past few weeks... it’s one of those PPI companies. When I mentioned I work in finance and ended up selling myself my own PPI, they seemed quite thrown off. The person I spoke to sounded like they were just going through a script, and when I tried giving them a sensible reply, or any kind of reply really, they just didn’t know how to react! This company has been ringing me almost every week for a few months now. Of course, their so-called opt-out doesn’t seem to work at all. This time I thought I’d actually follow through and ‘claim my payout’. I asked what company they were calling from and they said the PPI Helpline. When I checked if that was PPI Helpline Ltd, they said yes, but I couldn’t find that company registered anywhere, so that’s clearly not true. They also mentioned their address was 12 Queen St Glasgow - feel free to send them a cheeky letter if you want. Anyway, I got fed up there and didn’t bother anymore.

Since the week starting 29.04.13, this number has called me three times but never left a message. My mate has had calls from it too. When I tried calling back, the voicemail said it’s from a sales and marketing firm and nothing to be concerned about. They advise you to contact the TPS if you want to opt out. I am definitely going to report it to the TPS because these calls are annoying, especially as my number is already registered with them. The voicemail doesn’t even mention the company’s name, which is quite frustrating.

I keep getting calls on my mobile from this number, it's really annoying and I'm thinking of blocking it soon if possible. Someone mentioned to me that reporting to TPS might help, but I've been registered with them for ages and it doesn’t seem to make a difference for my mobile. Plus, my landline gets bombarded with marketing calls all the time even though I’m on the TPS list, so I just end up ignoring them.

This number rang me a moment ago. I picked up and all I could hear were some beeps, like they’d already hung up on me. Looked it up online and ended up here, so now I can see who it was - one of those blasted PPI claim firms! Honestly, the banks ought to just refund everyone and stop the faff, might finally give these lot a break!

Today, this number called me twice. The first time it was a voicemail about clearing debts. I just let the second one ring out and didn’t pick up.

Just the other day I saw a show where a guy picked up a call from one of these firms, like you do sometimes. Instead of hanging up, he engaged them, trying to suss out exactly who was calling. Then he told them he wasn’t interested and warned that if they rang again, he’d be charging £10 a minute for his time. He even sent a letter to the company to make it official. Sure enough, a few days later they called again. He let them talk for nearly 20 minutes and then billed them £195. Apparently, the company paid up once he mentioned taking them to small claims court.

This PPI claim thing has been calling nonstop and it’s super frustrating. Even my husband and kids have been getting calls from them. I checked with O2 to see if there was any way to block the number, but they basically said no, just deal with it! So annoying!

hey, so last wednesday, the 24th, I got a fresh phone number. just today, I got a call from that exact number.

I got the phone through Phones4U and I'm with Orange on contract.

There's no way I gave that number out yet, so it must've been leaked somehow by one of these providers, right?
