someone rung my house but no one picked up, then the call just dropped after a bit. i mustered the courage to call back but the number came up as invalid.

Just got a call on my home phone from this number but there was no voicemail left after it rang off. I usually don’t pick up unless the person says who they are straight away these days. Looking at all the comments, seems these calls are quite a pain for many. Makes me think why the Telephone Preference Service or Ofcom aren’t stepping in to stop these sorts of calls.

Looks like another one of those dodgy energy schemes tryin to get people to have someone show up at your house for a quick "free" 15 minute inspection that ends up taking ages. They reckoned they had techs in my postal code but didn't even bother saying the right town! Sounds like it’s all paid for by the big six energy firms - basically us, the poor folk payin the bills. I got a call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming there was some issue with my router and that TalkTalk had been warned about it. The thing is, I’m not even a TalkTalk customer! Total scam, for sure. I’ve blocked the number straight away!

Got a call from National Energy Check saying they’re doing free energy assessments in my neighbourhood tomorrow, and I could get a free Energy Performance Certificate. Yeah, like that’s real. Usually these things cost money, so it’s obvious they’re not just handing stuff out for free. It all feels like a scam to lure people in and then sell them unnecessary work or tell them stuff they already know. They said they got my number from the “UK Energy Database” with info on big 6 energy customers. Wouldn’t recommend answering!

Today I had a phone call claiming to be from BT’s tech support. The guy told me my internet was compromised. I said I suspected it was a scam, and then he got really rude, warning me my call was recorded and it would be my fault if the internet stopped working. I just ended the call. Later, the same number rang me again after a couple of hours.

Somebody tried scamming my elderly folks by telling them there’s some government rule that every house must have an EPC. That’s rubbish though - it’s only needed when you’re selling, and any proper estate agent sorts that out then. They also claimed they were working for the ‘big six’ energy companies, which was obviously a load of nonsense. They pushed hard to book a home visit and even rang back the following day. As soon as my parents said no thanks, they just hung up straight away. Probably moved on to try their luck with another vulnerable pensioner. Absolute disgrace.

Someone rang wanting to talk to a woman who supposedly had my phone number before. I mentioned I've owned this number since 2006 and then they just ended the call. For over a decade, debt collectors and even her bank have been chasing after her through this number. I eventually got caught out because of the area code, so I picked up.

Got a call saying they’d be in my neighbourhood tomorrow and Friday, offering a free energy assessment that supposedly new rules demand. Told them if that’s true, I’d have got a letter about it - naturally they came up with all sorts of reasons why I hadn’t. Just like others who rang before, they said they were working for one of the big six energy companies.

When I asked for their office address, the line cut out for a moment. Then Edward came back quickly and rattled off an address in a business park near Staines and a website, but spoke so fast I could barely keep up. I pointed out that they didn’t show up anywhere online as a real company and seemed like they had a name close to an actual business. He went into a load of vague excuses after that. I just ended the call.
