Got a call from someone called Declan about sorting out an EPC inspection. I nearly got caught out, but then another guy named Edward called right after to confirm the booking. They claimed to be from Safe House Environmentals. When I checked online, turns out that firm is actually in Los Angeles, not Halifax like Declan had said. Tried calling the number back shortly after, but just got a no-answer. I've informed the local police now. Luckily, I didn't share any bank info or make any payments over the phone. Fingers crossed this is the end of it.

Just to add to what I said before - Local Surveyors Direct are a legit company that really did get in touch with Nick May. The phone number mentioned earlier isn’t linked to any of the companies named, and I’m sorry for that mix-up. It’s clearly a dodgy scam number and best to steer well clear of it.

This evening, I got a random call from this number saying they were doing energy performance certificate checks across the whole ox26 area today. They said it was part of a government-supported initiative. Then, this morning, a surveyor rang me saying I’d apparently reached out to his company, Local Surveyors Direct, and they’d sent him to do the inspection. I told him that wasn’t true at all. The guy, Nick May, seemed genuine and looked like he worked for a real firm, so he was a bit shocked when I set the record straight.
