ADVANTIS rang up my daughter but she didnt pick up, then she asked me if it was some kind of scam. They claimed they were collecting fines for the DVLA. My daughter is just 16 with a provisional licence, so it made no sense. When I questioned them about how they got a DVLA penalty, they said it was an error but still insisted the charge was from DVLA. I phoned the DVLA myself and was told they never pass on fines to ADVANTIS. Seems like a total con to me.

Only a small change in numbers here, but this isn’t the real Advantis. Advantis Debt Collectors use a different phone number. The legit one is 01782 401100, but this one I got called from was 01782 971402. So watch out, it’s not the genuine Advantis.

Is this Advanitis or just some scammers pretending to be them? Never share any personal info with callers you weren’t expecting. You can’t really know who’s on the other end. Double check if you owe any money first. Make sure your car tax is up to date. And if you’ve sold your car, confirm all paperwork is sorted. Don’t send any money to these people - deal directly with the company or person you owe.

I recently received a letter followed by a call from 01782971402, requesting me to return their call on this date, 18/11/22. I must stress that I have no outstanding debts whatsoever, nor have I ever taken out a loan. All major organisations, including HM Revenue and Customs, have my current address on file. This caller insisted that I verify my address because they need to discuss some sort of account with me. It's all rather puzzling!

I received a letter asking me to call this number to confirm my address. I checked Advantis’ site and the number isn’t listed, so I didn’t bother calling.

Hi there! I had a right unexpected call from 01782971402 earlier today. Honestly, when I rang back it turned out to be a debt collection agency. I'm in a bit of a quandary, as I'm not sure if this is some dodgy scam or a genuine issue... I can't recall if I owe anything to anyone. Any suggestions on how to figure out if I have any debts floating about? Cheers!

This morning, I received a rather curious message from this number, claiming they’d sent me a letter regarding my account - which, I must say, I’ve yet to see. Then, not long after, a woman with a distinct English accent called from the same number, demanding I confirm my full name. Strangely enough, she already had my first initial and surname but wouldn’t divulge any details until I complied. I insisted she provide the information in writing instead, to which she promptly hung up. To my knowledge, I am not in debt to anybody and have had no prior correspondence about any financial obligations. My phone flagged both the text and the call as potentially suspicious - which seems quite fitting!

Got a call from Advantis about a personal debt issue. Chatted with a lady who was quite nice, and she told me they’ve taken me off their list because it was a mistake; I already sorted that debt last year.

Got a call earlier today from someone asking for a Mr or Mrs xxx, but their English was so bad I couldn’t make out the name. I told them they’d dialled the wrong number and hung up before they could launch into their scam. I’m sure they’ll ring back again, and maybe next time I’ll have a bit of time to mess about with them before letting them know the call’s being tracked.

Just received a message saying "Hello. We have sent a letter concerning your account. Please check our site to make a payment bit.ly/2JJLDe8; Helo. Rydym wedi anfon llythyr atoch chi am eich cyfrif. Ewch i'n gwefan i wneud taliad bit.ly/2JJLDe8". I've gone ahead and sent it over to HMRC to see if it's legit.

Got a message saying they’d been in touch about my account and to ring them straight away or go to bit.ly/2JJLDe8 with a reference number. When I checked the link, it said they were debt collectors for well-known companies like the DVLA?? I don’t owe the DVLA or anyone else a penny! Blocked the number immediately!!!

Got a call from a woman claiming to be from Advantis, saying I owed HMRC money from 1990 for some lorry import tax. Sounded totally dodgy so I just ended the call. Noise in the background gave it away as some sort of Indian scam call centre. Definitely a con.

Got a voicemail at 10:35 am on 03/09/2021 from someone claiming to be from Atlantis. They said sorry they didn't get through and needed to chat with us. They asked us to return the call at 01782971404. After looking up the number, it showed up as sketchy and annoying. Didn’t bother calling back and won’t be doing that anytime soon.

Got a call from some Adventis person asking for my bank info. Their English was terrible. Claimed I owed tax to HMRC from 2006. I just ended the call immediately.

Got two calls over the last couple of days on my landline from a number I’ve never shared or dialled. There was a voicemail from a lady apologising for missing me, said she was calling from Adventist and wanted to have a word. She left a number to ring back, but I haven’t done that. The message was spoken in very clear, native English.

Got a call today from some foreign woman claiming to be from HMRC, saying they were giving tax refunds to folks over 80. Her English was awful, sounded like she was Pakistani or something. I could barely understand her, just talking nonsense. Definately a newbie scammer.

Got a couple of calls from this number, one was yesterday and another just now. They left a message saying they’re from Atlantis, asking how I’m doing and saying they need to talk to me. Nothing new, I just end up deleting it.

They ring me literally every single day, so I’ve blocked the number, which now just goes straight to voicemail. Used to say they were HMRC, but now they call themselves Advantis. SOMEONE PLEASE DO SOMETHING!!! The number’s 01782 971402 and they also use .401.
