This company from Preston is total con artists. They phoned me saying they were doing an "energy saving" survey on my street in Poulton-le-Fylde, but the way they spoke made it sound like they were from some official government department. I missed their first call but decided to check the number online. I assumed it was a decent Preston (01772) firm trying to get hold of me, so I called them back (wish I'd checked this site before!). Turns out, they already had my details from the reverse lookup. These guys are dodgy and honestly, should be behind bars!

I had yet another call today from Stay Warm Energy Insulations. They've been hassling me for absolutely ages, attempting to dupe me into purchasing new double glazed windows. Rumour has it they’ll be scouring the Blackpool neighbourhood tomorrow, so for heaven's sake, don't answer the door to them or let them in! These are very dodgy traders, the worst sort. One of them had the audacity to try and swindle me out of over a grand for a single window, which is beyond ridiculous! The best tactic to send them packing is to tell them you’re merely a tenant and would need to consult your landlord first. That usually does the trick and they ought to leave you in peace afterwards.

They rang my mum, who's elderly and lives alone, and started talking about government grants which totally confused her. She kept asking who exactly they were but couldn’t really keep up with what they were saying. She mentioned they seemed to have way too much info on her, like details about work being done at her house. They managed to get her to agree to a visit the next day, but I’ve since phoned back, cancelled the appointment, and told them to remove her info from their records.

When I first talked to them, it was definitely a scam, going on about the boiler nonsense. They even phoned at 7.15 in the morning, which didn’t sit well with me. After that, they stopped. Since it was a local number, I picked up. The person on the line was quite friendly, but when I mentioned I didn’t want any calls, he said that was exactly why he was ringing - to offer info on government grants. I utilise caller ID, and unless the number rings a bell, I simply let it go to voicemail. Recently, I've been receiving several calls marked as INTERNATIONAL UNAVAILABLE. I absolutely refuse to entertain those; on rare occasions, they leave a message, but the only word that stands out is 'important'. The rest of the recording instructs me to hang up and call back. I've got a hunch that if I were to heed that advice, they might manage to establish a connection without me realising, and honestly, I shudder to think of the potential repercussions.
