They buzzed me again today, reckon it’s some big firm. I’d spoken to them before, gave them info for an insurance policy and they sent over the documents. But, honestly, the policy wasn’t quite what they mentioned on the call. Maybe it’s cos the guy rushed through the bits about the fees and charges if you make a claim, which looked pretty pricey to me.

They've called me multiple times and kept asking loads of personal stuff, then kept passing me around - first a couple of people from India, then someone in the UK. I got really wary when one guy asked for my bank info, even after saying he didn’t need my card number. Then he wanted my sort code and account number, even though I hadn’t agreed to anything new. When I said I didn’t have those details, he told me to just log into my online banking. That’s when I just ended the call. Seems super dodgy to me. They’ve rung a few more times since then too.

Got a call from an insurance firm around Chorley, close to Preston in Lancs. They were pushing home contents insurance this time. I played along for a bit, even gave them my address and postcode, but ended it as soon as they asked for my DOB. Seems a bit dodgy, since my age shouldn’t matter for home contents cover! If I’d kept going, I bet they’d been after my bank or card info next.

All was well and they offered me solid life insurance cover. Worth giving them a shot, I actually brushed them off first time round. Proper good service 👍🏼

Insurance brokers have to follow rules. these people ringing are probs scammers and probably not even from preston. if you just sign up or hand over your details to a random caller, you're just asking to get scammed. be careful! if you need an insurance broker, just google 'british insurance brokers association' and find someone legit near you.

Got a call from a young woman saying I needed to ring about a policy I supposedly have. I called back and was met with an unprofessional automated system that sounded like the same girl talking, then some kid’s voice giving the options, which was really weird. Got a call while I was in the middle of shopping, thought it might be my wife so I picked up. some bloke selling life insurance said he was from Bank of Scotland, asked for my bank details sayin he could sort me out with a better deal. he said he’d send over all the paperwork for me to check and sign, and when i rang back it’d go right to him. but i could hear loads of different voices in the background which felt dodgy.

From what I've experienced, these folks aren't scammers at all; they're genuine life insurance agents offering some of the best deals around. They don't just do life insurance either - I've seen they handle home, travel, and other types too. Me along with my mates and relatives have all gone through them for various insurance needs, and they've been really helpful and saved us quite a bit.

This number rang me out of the blue, trying to get me to change insurers from my current one, Scottish Widows. They hinted quite strongly that Scottish Widows charges way too much and sort of cheats customers, though never coming out and saying it directly. They promised they could offer me twice the coverage for the same cost. I did end up telling them my full name, birthday and where I live before I cut the call off pretty quick, which seemed to annoy them a bit. Watch out for this firm from Chorley called Star or ST&R. They claim to be just giving you life insurance quotes, but actually they begin a policy without you realising. A few days later, all the documents land on your doorstep. When they ask for your Direct Debit info, don’t give it to them - you shouldn’t have to for just a quote, even though they insist it’s needed. Looks like they’re just pulling a trick to earn commission from insurers by saying you’ve taken out a policy.
