Got a call from some home insulation company saying they were backed by the government. We’re on the TPS and ex-directory, but they just brushed that off saying it doesn't matter since they’re working for the government. Total rubbish, clearly they haven’t bothered checking the TPS or don’t even understand what it means.

If you look a couple posts down from here, you’ll find a clear guide on how to deal with these scam calls and texts. If thousands of us in the UK who get these dodgy calls and messages every day took these steps, it could push the police and government to take real action against these crooks. Don’t just hope someone else will do it - it doesn’t take much time at all. I keep the ‘action fraud’ site bookmarked, have emailed my MP getting an interesting reply, and always forward scam messages to ‘[email protected]’. But it won’t work if it’s only me doing it.

Got a call from a really polite older lady saying she was with some company called Ecohub, talking about loft insulation and risks of lung irritation. When I asked where Ecohub was based, she said it was in Wales but they worked all over the UK. Then I asked for their exact address and the call just dropped. Total scam in my view.

She said there’s a study about loft insulation possibly irritating lungs and asked if we wanted someone to come and check. The call was odd, like it kept switching between a robot and Jo. I received a rather dubious call from someone purporting to be a local energy consultant. They insisted that my glassfibre loft insulation is in dire need of replacement, going on about how it leads to damp issues and such. It struck me as rather suspicious-a classic ploy to get someone to agree to a pricey upgrade, likely to a foam alternative, with no real advantage at all. I’d advise anyone to be cautious; it sounds like a scam to me!
