Check out the two comments below this one. They explain how to properly report these scam calls if you're serious about putting an end to them. If these scams aren’t reported, the police won’t have a clue about how widespread the problem is or what kinds of scams are being used. At the moment, police figures show fraud makes up 40% of recorded crimes and attempts. But I’m pretty sure if every scam attempt was reported, that number would be much closer to 99% or more. That’d definitely get some attention - MPs included!!

I decided to have a bit of a laugh with this annoying call, so I held the caller on the line as long as possible to waste their time and hopefully stop them pestering anyone else. It was a woman with a strong London cockney accent, ringing from a Peterborough number but claiming she was calling from Wales - that alone got me intrigued for some laughs. They kicked off talking about glass fibre and rockwool insulation being dangerous according to the British Lung Foundation or some organisation like that. I asked straight away why they were ringing me out of the blue and if they were trying to sell me anything. They said no, just giving advice and no pressure to do anything. Felt like they were just trying to scare me with a made-up issue then offer a quick fix. I stayed quiet for a bit, then ended the call and blocked their number.

Sounds like a dodgy insulation scam to me. I had a chat with a woman on the phone who clearly didn’t get the questions she was asking. She went “is it right to assume…” and before I could say anything, I just replied “no”. She said “alright, goodbye” and then just hung up. If these lot were genuine, surely she’d ask me to explain what I meant by no, since she lumped loads of things into one question. But nah, she just cut me off. For the past few days, my elderly parents, who are 89 and 93, have been getting multiple calls each day on different phone numbers. They’re registered on the Telephone Preference Service, so surely these calls shouldn’t be happening. To those behind these calls, I really hope you stop pestering them like this - it’s downright disrespectful and could seriously affect their wellbeing.
