The Sky support team really doesn’t stick to what they say. First, they tell you to go online and download some program that lets them control your computer completely. Then they claim you’re owed money back because your internet is ‘too slow’ and want your bank info. They ring me all the time, sometimes multiple times a day, using all sorts of different phone numbers!

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Sky’s tech support trying to trick me into downloading some software so they could get into my computer. They said I was due a refund and then put me through to a ‘supervisor’ who asked for my bank info to send the money over straight away. When I said I’ve been with BT for a year and a half, not Sky, the caller just dropped the call. I later found out it’s the “markup validation service” scam. Heads up, I actually got two calls like this within five minutes, so be careful everyone!
