A woman with a stern voice and the noise of a call centre in the background said she was conducting a crime prevention survey for my area. When I asked if it was a scam, she insisted it wasn’t. Then I challenged her by saying, how do I know you’re not one, given how many scams you probably get? She just hung up on me. I flagged the number as suspicious because the way she spoke and the topic seemed like it could trick people. They called twice this afternoon.
