Got a call from 0169944666 about my Amazon account, some Asian guy was really pushy. Definatley a scam, watch out!

I received a rather dubious call from this number, 01699 088670, which seemed to be someone posing as Virgin Media. The whole thing was bizarre, filled with loud laughter and shouting. Quite unsettling, if you ask me!

Received a call claiming there was a withdrawal of £1000 from my bank account for a purchase made on Amazon. They insisted I select either option one or two on my keypad. I promptly hung up the phone!

Got a call from a guy claiming to be from BT Openreach with an Asian accent, saying my internet was running slow. He wanted to access my computer. I’d suggest just hanging up straight away and telling BT about it. That’s really the safest thing to do. You can also dial 1572 to block and ban these scammers. Stay safe everyone!

01699725453: This number keeps calling me with recorded messages, not real people, and they keep trying again and again. I’d definitely put them in the 'Dangerous' category because of how annoying they are.

01699614561 was a no answer but I got a voicemail saying there was some dodgy internet activity and that our internet and landline would be cut off - to press 1 or something.

Got a call from 01699 965177 on 08/07/20 at around 1pm, with a woman saying she was from SKY tech support. The accent sounded like it was from somewhere in South Asia and sounded like a long distance call. They didn't have any of our real account details though, which made me suspicious so I just ended the call. She was trying to chat about routers, green indicator lights and slow broadband to get us hooked in. Earlier the same day, we got two more calls from 01293 127508 and 01209 224555 but there was no one speaking on the line, just clicking sounds.

Got a call from 01699436256 supposed to be Amazon. They said I had a "subscription" costing £39.99 that would come out of my bank account soon. I didn’t wait for the whole spiel and just ended the call.

This number rang me, but luckily I have the setting on to block calls from anyone not saved in my contacts - cheers Apple, that really helps. All I got was a notification saying this number called me today, so I decided to check it out and found this: [#]www[###]phoneinfo[###] › 01. Results show that 01699 is not assigned to any place. If you’ve had a call from a number starting with 01699, it's probably someone faking their number. So I’m dodging these calls from now on.

01699130544 - got a call first from some robotic voice saying I’d signed up for an Amazon subscription charging me £99.99, then it told me to press 1 to cancel. After that, a bloke who sounded like he was in some call centre started talking about suspicious activity and asked if we used a computer at home, if i could go check it now. I said no and he said he’d call again later. Not really convinced this was legit amazon stuff.

This landline, 01699 025657, called my 91-year-old grandad and told him to press 1 to talk to someone about £600 being sent into his bank. He did press 1 but quickly hung up. They’ve rang twice in just two days.

I got a call from 016996526478 but didnt pick up cos I thought it might be some annoying call. I've gone ahead and blocked the number now!

01699 764693 - got a recorded message pretending to be from HMRC about some unpaid invoice, saying there was an arrest warrant out for me. they then told me to talk to an advisor and gave me another number to call. i didn't phone back. felt really threatening and totally a scam, but i reckon someone not as careful could easily fall for it and end up losing a lot of money.

Got a call from this 01699 number saying they were from BT Openreach about some fraud on my internet. The person sounded Indian. I told them it’s impossible since my internet’s password locked. They kept pushing, so I asked them to say who I was - if they were really from BT, they’d know. Unsurprisingly, they hung up right after. Don’t share any personal info with these folk. Always question them and make sure to report it.
