I got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC, warning me that if I didn’t press 1 to discuss some tax fraud issue, I'd be arrested. Just so you know, HMRC doesn't ring you up like that - they always get in touch through email or by sending a letter in the post.

A few weeks back, my aunt nearly got caught out by some fraudsters claiming to be from HMRC. They were trying to cheat her out of more than £600! Thankfully, she didn’t fall for it and I made sure to block their number straight away. These scammers are really targeting people who are easy to fool.

Got a call from 01687 498568 but missed it, then they left a message saying if I don’t press one to connect, I’ll be arrested. Pretty dodgy if you ask me. I’m certain I’ve done nothing wrong and I’m nowhere near Mallaig, where the call came from. It’s clear this is a scam, just trying to scare people into pressing one, probably to rip you off with huge charges. Stay well clear of this number!
